My ds likes a challenging board game. He loves strategy games rather than luck roll the dice games. Loves risk. Would escape from colditz fit the same sort of bill?

No, it's alright, but gets boring. You need more of a gamers' game. Carcassonne, Ticket to ride, Risk, all good intros to more challenging games.

Sorry, just seen he has Risk.

I did wonder about carcasonne but read a review saying there wasn’t much strategy. Would you say it is quite good though? Risk is probably his perfect game anything where you try and conquer land or some such

Colditz is very expensive so don’t want to buy unless it’s worth it

We have the original Colditz from when we were children in the 70s. It’s a fun game which we really enjoy, but partly for nostalgia, and it’s not one with immensely complex strategy, more a mix of luck and some strategy. I think some children today would enjoy it, but not all. It’s much less brutal than Risk!

Does he already have settlers of Catan?

Colditz is epically long to play, we have it but very rarely get it out for this reason.

I remember playing it a long time ago - but Dad misread the rules and it took much longer than it ought to have done.
