I know I’m over reacting but I’ve had a small lump in for mouth for 6 weeks now. Been pretending it’s not there and will disappear. Haven’t been able to sleep for worrying and I just bite the bullet and phoned the dentist . She sounded worried and has booked me in for 4pm. Im worried sick.

Well done. Get it checked get it dealt with.

I can give you a couple of I've had one of those stories if you like.

One was a friend and it was something dodgy but whipped out, no further treatment etc.

One is me - have one on the inside bottom of my mouth just under my lip. It's just a bump (there is a name beginning with m that I can't remember). It's been checked and it just sits there. I use it like a worry bead sometimes.

Good luck.

Thank you so much for replying . Mine is in a similar place to yours . Feels like a little ball bearing . I was expecting her to ask me to come down in February when she said today I was really shocked.

I’m so glad I’ve seen your post you have just described exactly what I have. Not gonna lie I’ve been putting off the doctors with it

https://healthjade.net/mucocele/

Mucoceles are harmless and can stick around ages. It's good to get things checked just to be sure but it's much more likely to be something benign.

Maybe a tonsil stone? Or a calcium deposit? Either way, it’s best to get it checked out

InterFactual · 07/10/2023 21:42

@Holly03 if you have a lump in your mouth the doctor won't be able to look at it. I took my daughter with a benign tongue polyp and the GP said only the dentist can diagnose mouth issues. In the end it was the dentist who had to make the referral for surgery.

Hi I got an urgent referral for the hospital and was seen in two weeks. Turns out mine was just a swollen gland I was in and out in a few minutes . I would go to dentist and get your mind put at rest.
