My not particularly old or high mileage car completely broke down in summer and since then I've been dithering about it. I want to avoid spending any more on it and now just want to recoup anything I can. I'm no mechanic but think it will need a new engine and the risk of spending lots on it which I won't get back (need to sell it anyway as it's now too small) is putting me off so I think scrappage is the way forward.
The car, if it were running, would be worth about 7k.
The local scrappage place offers £500, Cartakeback has offered £1600 collected and webuyanycar scrappage has offered £3k but I would need to arrange transport.
Has anyone got any experience of scrapping their car with any if these or other companies and could give me the benefit of their experience or if you would do something different then any advice would be gratefully received.
