What do you expect from your partner (stepparent)

What do you expect from your partner if they are to step parent your child.

I think all discipline should be left to me but I expect at least some kind of bond there. To feel like they actually like each other?

My partner also has his own kids and I know he’ll never look at my DC the same…but feel like there’s just no effort there.

There's your answer. He puts no effort into your children. Why would you want to be with him?

What age are the kids?

I'd say a basic friendship at least. And knowing I could rely on them in an emergency, for example if I needed them to do a school pick up, take to doctors or whatever if I couldn't.

Do you live together?
How do you spend your days?

Does he want a realtionship with your child or just with you?
