I've found a lump

Well, I found it three months ago. I've been sticking my head in the sand about it and hoping it would go away but it hasn't.

Small and hard, about the size of a pea in my armpit next to my left breast. Finally went to the doctor today and I've been referred for scans.

Doctor muttered something about being a cyst, so I'm hoping that's it. Has anyone else had this and it's turned out fine?

I had one that turned out to be a hamartoma - right behind my nipple, 2cm by 1cm!

I had something similar a few months ago, they called me on the Friday and I got a scan on the Monday. They told me right away what it was...nothing to worry about. I hope it all goes ok for you!!

I had one and was just a cyst. Went away by itself took a couple of months

That's reassuring, I was imagining a long process and weeks of worry. Hopefully it's that quick for me.

I had similar. Got my scan apt within 2 weeks and they told me at that it was just fibrous tissue.

Came home relieved.

You poor thing, you must have been so stressed. Well done for going to drs about it. I had a lump a few years back and wish i had gone sooner as it turned out to be nothing. I did have full biopsy etc so dont worry if they have to go down that route

WashAsDelicates · 29/11/2022 19:22

Yes, that's happened to me. Turned out to be an infected sweat gland. Nobody could understand how come I was not in pain and there was no redness. Though by the time several people had poked and prodded it...! Antibiotics sorted it out.

Glad you've got a referral. I have so many lumps that they investigated the other year which all eventually came back as benign. Don't worry, the breast care service are fabulous. You'll be seen within 2 weeks of the referral and they get the results back lightning fast.

Let us know how you get on.

Yes, similar to as others have said, though my lump is in my boob. Referred by GP, got seen exactly at two weeks, the did examination, mamogram, scan and biopsy in one visit, done and dusted in two hours, all every quick, if they know what it is, they tell you then.
Hope you have you're appointment through quickly.

You should get an appt at the breast clinic within 2 weeks.

namelessnoname · 29/11/2022 19:43

Yes I’ve just been to the breast clinic with a lump near my armpit that turned out to be a cyst. It is smooth and moveable which is apparently a good sign. Hope you get seen and reassured very soon x

Leemoe · 29/11/2022 19:47

I had one near my armpit and it was a lymph node.
My mum had one that was a lipoma.

You have done the right thing and are now I the system to get it checked. If and I stress if it is breast ca the NHS is still efficient and wonderful when it comes to cancer care and you will be treated and cured in no time at all.

Well done for facing your fears and getting this seen to. Hopefully and likely it is completely benign. Don't worry until you need to x
