What would you think of someone who said this?

2 years ago I was at a work event. It was a formal, sit down meal and I was put next to a colleague who was new to the company. Half way through the meal she put her hand up, clicked her fingers and said to the waiter 'could you get one of your minions to top up my glass please'.

I couldn't believe what she'd said and felt mortified to be associated with her. Anyway, she didn't last long at the company but I've now seen her on social media and she has a pretty large following, they all seem to adore her!

I'm just wondering if I was too quick to judge her, I really didn't make any effort to connect with her after that but I'm wondering if I'm too judgemental in general and should have had more time for her.

You were right not to connect with her.

The alcohol will have removed some inhibitions Her attitude is atrocious.

Clicking fingers at waiting staff is rude, referring to "minions" is beyond rude.

Your judgement at the time was correct. Stay away from her social media pages, followers are not friends. The numbers are meaningless.

Unless she has learned some manners in the meantime she is likely to disgrace herself even more publicly in the future.

Why are you pondering two years later if you should have made more time for her? I would not wish to spend time with a person who displayed such crassness.

NoCoatAndFurKnickers · 28/11/2022 19:48

I'd definitely think she was an asshole

It was two years ago. That ship has sailed.

But she sounds like a dick so I don't think you missed anything.

Thanks everyone. Glad to hear my initial judgement was probably right.

She's full of positivity, kindness, empathy etc on her social media. I couldn't believe it was the same person who said it but it is.

I've no intention of contacting her or even following her, i just wondered how others would have reacted to the restaurant incident.
