Noresthisterone help

I posted this in the health section first but I am not sure if that was the best place to put it. Sorry for posting here as well but I wonder if anyone can help.

My first time posting here after reading for a long time and I hope someone can help reassure me. 2 weekends ago I took noresthisterone to delay my period because it was my best friend's wedding weekend. It was my first time taking it but just after starting I started to feel really depressed, energyless and down. I don't normally feel like this and it is not nice. It is now about 12 days since I stopped taking the pills and I do not feel any better. If anything I feel worse and even more down. My period did come on afterwards.

Has anybody else experienced this before? How long did it last and what can I do to make it better? It is really really bad and I am really worried that this isn't going to get better. I am even starting to think it might not just be the pills but there is nothing else that would explain it.

You need to see a doctor OP, we can't really give you medical advice on here.

I'm sorry to hear that op. There have been threads on norethisterone before where posters have experienced similar symptoms, I myself felt awful with the worst anxiety and mood but when I stopped taking it I began to feel better. I also used meditation, exercise and general self care to help feel myself again.

It sounds like you might need a little more help so speaking to your gp would be a good idea.

Same for me. I took the pills for a week while abroad. I had my first period which was much lighter. Low mood continued on and off following this (quite extreme at times) until I’d been through a full cycle and had my next period which was ridiculously heavy. All better now

I had exactly the same and spoke to a trusted family member who is a GP and I knew would give me an honest answer. Told me to ask for medroxyprogesterone and also said he prescribes this over norethisterone due to exactly what you describe. A lot of GPs go straight up norethisterone despite a better alternative being available and the awful side effects being widely reported.
