Looking for knee high boots for a short person

I need a new pair of boots for winter. I've tried on several pairs during the last week or so, only to find that they're getting longer and longer these days and they scrape my knees. I'm 5ft 1 and it gets harder every time. Does anyone have any recommendations please, if you've bought some recently? I did look at Clarks but all their heels are too high - I really don't want anything higher than an inch or so.

Any recommendations please?

No recommendations sorry but I’m the same height as you and always thought that knee high boots on someone our height aren’t suitable, as they will make us look shorter, by chopping our legs in half, if you know what I mean. I’d love to wear them but always steered clear. I’d be interested to see what you think OP

Hi OP. I'm 5'2" and have the same problem. I got a pair of flat knee highs from Clark's a couple years ago. They dig in to the back of my knees when I'm sitting and sit right under my knee cap at the front.

I have the same problem with wellies etc... so I now just buy ankle boots. If you do find a pair please report back!

Duo boots do a short (and tall) length in some of their knee length boots

tectonicplates · 28/11/2022 15:59

@Dontsayyouloveme Totally disagree - been wearing them for years. I just need a new pair every few years as they wear out, plus they are practical for autumn and winter. They don't chop your legs in half - that would only happen with calf boots.

Totally depends what you wear them with. They are far more flattering than mid calf boots or ankle boots with dresses on short people. They can give a very streamlined look.

Try office girl - I'm only just a smidge over 5ft and got a fab pair that come just under my knee!

pocketvenuss don’t do dresses with boots.. it’s a pet hate of mine.

How about over jeans? Is that a no go?

winnieanddaisy · 28/11/2022 16:48

My DD has bought me flat knee boots from Clark’s in the Black Friday sales . £90 instead of £180 .

tectonicplates · 28/11/2022 16:52

@winnieanddaisy How tall are you?

I'm your height OP, and I love knee boots (I don't do heels either). My current favourites are from Ecco and Dune. I've also got slim legs, and none of those looks like wellies on me. In fact, they all look fabulous. Someone told me today how gorgeous I looked in my knee boots and swishy coat, so it must be true. 🙂

tectonicplates · 28/11/2022 17:05

Ah, no I can't fit into Dune boots as my legs aren't slim, but I will have a look at Ecco, thanks. I have loved the look of these amazing Dune boots for years, but have tried them on several times and I'm never going to get the zip done even half way up, but they would be amazing if they fitted! www.johnlewis.com/dune-pixie-d-button-detail-knee-high-boots/black-leather/p2273114

I’m 5’ 4”. They are a few inches below my knee, just the right length to wear with midi dresses .

winnieanddaisy · 28/11/2022 17:22

I forgot to say I ordered the wider fit but to be honest I need the wider fit for my feet not my calf’s . I am an apple shape with skinny legs 😁

tectonicplates · 28/11/2022 17:27

You're three inches taller than me so that's not going to work.

Mine were from very I think. Not sure what brand they are, possibly their own brand. But as well as being short I also have extra wide feet and big calves.
So mine are EEE fit, curvy calf. They aren't too long though.

However, I did buy them a few years ago.

tectonicplates · 10/12/2022 00:22

Just coming back to this thread as I still haven't found anything. I'm getting quite desparate now. I've been to John Lewis and tried all the brands like Geox and Gabor and they were all still too long. Please help if you know of anything else!

The only other thing that might work is these boots from Duo which are made in a petite length:

duoboots.com/products/haltham-petite-black-leather?variant=39560445853798

But I'm confused because it says the model is 5ft 7 so that doesn't make sense. Also they cost £195 which is really pushing it, plus Duo don't seem to have such great reviews recently.

Does anyone have ANY other suggestions of things you've bought recently, like in the past two months or so? It's not useful to recommend something you've bought a couple of years ago if it's no longer available.

Try Joe browns , I've bought a couple of pairs over the years and they fit perfectly. I'm 4'10"

yodaandmedication · 10/12/2022 06:22

Op I buy heel inserts from Amazon and put them into long boots. Then my leg sits slightly higher, I can zip up the boot easier because my calf is higher, and it's comfy too. And I look a tiny bit taller!! It's opened up a world of long boots I didn't have access to before and they are only a few quid.

yodaandmedication · 10/12/2022 06:23

And I'm 5ft and slim but with rather muscly legs!

tectonicplates · 10/12/2022 10:57

I've just had a look at Joe Browns and all the heels are too high.

OP posts:
tectonicplates · 10/12/2022 11:08

Thanks but DMs won't be suitable for work. Just looking for a normal pair of boots that go with everything.

1sttimegran · 10/12/2022 11:09

Are there not any flat boots in the Joe Browns site? There are usually but you might have to scroll down to the bottom!
I must admit that I find my heeled JB boots very easy to walk in and I spend most of my life in wellies or steel toe cap boots
