Argh DC ill again

How do people manage it? I'm single, 2 young dc. One of the other could have been off school every day for the past 2 weeks. They've both had some time off. New company policy is no wfh if you're caring for dc. Oldest is coughing really badly again. He should stay at home really. He's knackered from coughing all night, but not properly ill as such.

It's a bloody nightmare. Just ranting really.

I really don't know either. We have 1 DC and both work full time.
DC is poorly very often from bugs at nursery.
Currently they have norovirus anc tonsillitis 😩 this week is going to be a struggle all round.

Will your work expected you to take unpaid leave to look after them?

I am lucky that I can wfh and DH is self employed so we have some flexibility

I honestly don't know. I coukd easily wfh with 1 ill dc. I had to do it with 2 well DC in lockdown, fine when it suited them I guess.

Very hard when you're single I think. We relied a lot on tag teaming.

My work is the same with younger DC but allows WFH from about age 8. I know it's not convenient but I think it's quite healthy that we're going back to a pre-covid boundary between work and home. I hope your eldest feels better soon.

Why don't you just say to your employer that due to the policy on not wfh I have no choice but to take the day off? Surely then it puts the ball back in their court
