Hey OP, what sort of help are you needing?

Raspberrycottage · 27/11/2022 21:52

Hi @Chunkythighss

Sorry, my post cut off and I didn't realise and thanks so much for replying.

I'm struggling mentally and I am not sure how to go about this. I don't know what it is.

I go through phases where I feel so overwhelmed by helplessness and hopelessness. I burst into tears. Sometimes, I just feel really anxious and just can't seem to shake it off.

I don't sleep well, I do tend to wake a few times in the night or if I wake at around 5/6AM I can't sleep again.

I'm afraid of going to the GP because I'm worried if I poured my heart out only to be turned away or just knowing that the NHS is under so much pressure that I'll be on this waiting list to God knows when.

Sometimes I have intrusive thoughts and I don't have much control of it.

I just don't know where to start or how to start or what to call these 'feelings'.

Hi OP, you may get more responses if you post this in the mental health section

I could have written this post. I am so sorry you are struggling to. Do you have any family or friends around? Do you work? I find Autumn/Winter/ Christmas hard every year. I find the weather and dark night depressing, am an emetophobe and there seem to be more bugs around and I find Christmas totally and utterly overwhelming, so much to do but not much motivation and an obligation to be happy and festive. Can you relate?

Unlikely. Have you been over there recently?

BipolarWhypolarTrypolar · 28/11/2022 08:55

It sounds like something the GP may be able to diagnose and treat. If they can’t, they will be able to make a referral to someone who can help. A lot of mental health problems are treatable either with medication or therapy. The GP probably sees a couple of patients every day for mental health, so don’t worry about going.

I hope you feel better soon. 💐

Hello OP, we are really sorry to hear you are feeling this way.

We hope you don't mind, but when these threads are flagged up to us we usually add a link to our Mental Health Resources. You can also go to the Samaritans website, or email them on [email protected].

We see that you are getting some wonderful support already - support from other Mumsnetters is great and we really hope you will be able to take some comfort from your fellow posters, but as other MNers will tell you, it's really a good idea to seek RL help and support as well.

We also like to remind everyone that, although we're awed daily by the astonishing support our members give each other through life's trickier twists and turns, we'd always caution anyone never to give more of themselves to another poster, emotionally or financially, than they can afford to spare.

Wishing you the very best
MNHQ💐

Try some online sessions, judgment-free with no commitment and where you can test the ground before you know exactly, what kind of help you' sre seeking. I was here once, had a few sessions, and feel like, they gave me a fresh kick to continue struggling with my issues. https://p-s-y.online/
Best of the luck.
