A not very interesting question about electric toothbrushes. Specifically, charging electric toothbrushes 🪥

So, we've just had our old bathroom refurbished.

My electric toothbrushes doesn't fit the new charging socket. Which, to be fair does say shavers only.

How do other electric toothbrushes charge theirs, please?

We charge ours in the bedroom, on an extension lead.

ColdfingersWarmfart · 27/11/2022 18:50

I keep my charger in the bedroom and just put the toothbrush back on the charger after use.

Always4Brenner · 27/11/2022 18:51

In the bedroom I’ve got a shaver plug for it.

Same. Charge in the bedroom

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 27/11/2022 19:00

I've got an adaptor as we don't have a shaving plug anywhere in the house. £3.99 for two adaptors in Argos.

Hugasauras · 27/11/2022 19:00

It is weird! Ours says shavers only too but our toothbrush plug fits. It's a double prong one.

Threadkillacilla · 27/11/2022 19:01

Is it a standard two pin (round pin) shaver plug on the charger? Odd it doesn't fit.

Sunnysidegold · 27/11/2022 19:02

We also charge ours in the bedroom with an adaptor plug.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/11/2022 19:03

We've got various miscellaneous chargers including for the toothbrush on an extension lead in the box room which is next to the bathroom.
But we've just had the en-suite redone, including a fancy cabinet which incorporates a toothbrush charger which is compatible with our Braun brushes.

We charge ours in the bedroom. I thought everyone did these days? I thought you couldn’t put sockets in the bathroom anymore? Even our light switch is outside the bathroom, although we used to have a pull cord inside.

No 😄. I charge everything in the bedroom, we don't have sockets in the bathroom as I think these are weird and they make me nervous!

I use an electric tooth brush but don't plug it in anywhere, I just jam my fingers in the electric shaver socket and the shock causes me to violently vibrate and hence brush my teeth without the tedious bother of me having to move my hand up and down.

It's worth noting that this works on the Continent too, and so save buying those pesky European adaptors.

DON'T DO THIS, IT'S NOT TRUE!

In my computer cupboard in the study. Out of the way.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 28/11/2022 00:25

On my bedside table

Climbie · 28/11/2022 01:06

We had a charging point fitted in the bathroom that does either shavers or toothbrushes. They have separate sockets on the same wall plate but there's a mechanism that stops you using them both at the same time.

Before that we had cables in bedrooms, but this is much better.

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 28/11/2022 01:09

We also charge ours in our bedroom. Doesn’t seem bizarre to me - I just bring my toothbrush in with me in the evening if it needs charging, and in the morning I bring it back to the bathroom.

MigsandTiggs · 29/11/2022 12:40

I use the shaving socket in the mirror cabinet,

Notsympatheticenough · 29/11/2022 12:44

There's probably an adaptor that will make it fit in the shaving socket. We plug ours into the shaving socket in the mirror.

Fed up with seeking out charging facilities for bloody toothbrush. Have just bought battery powered.

stuntbubbles · 29/11/2022 13:06

You can get wall toothbrush charger socket thingies - we’ve just ordered one to fit in the new bathroom, in a cupboard. (DP’s electric toothbrush does not fit the aesthetic!) All the online bathroom sheds do them and should be easy enough for an electrician to change over?

Or get a socket adaptor thingy but that’s a bit more “trailing wires”. DP currently charges his in his mancave. My bamboo toothbrush doesn’t need charging.

CointreauVersial · 29/11/2022 13:07

Ours just plugs into a standard shaver socket - I thought they all did?! Two round pins on the plug.

Before we did up our bathroom (and added said shaver socket) we just used an adapter plug and charged it elsewhere (utility room, I think).

StreamingCervix · 29/11/2022 13:10

we just do it on the bedside table, it’s only a sort of once every 10/14 days activity usually, so I’ll normally place it on the charger after brushing one morning and it will be fully charged by the evening time.

far less odd than having electronics in the bathroom if you ask me.
