What else can I add to this gift?

My boyfriend has asked for whine for his birthday so I've got him 6 bottles that he chose as we were in morrisons and the buy 6 get 25% offer was/is on.
I've decided to do some kind of food box/hamper to go with it as I want to make it a bit more special. So far I've got:
6 bottles of wine
101 Reasons To Have A Glass Of Wine book
A box of sensations crisps
M&S Teriyaki Sauce
Kikkoman Soy Sauce
Hot Pepper Sauce

I don't know what else to get for it 🤔
My current ideas are:
Fancy oil
Costa gift card
Coffee beans
Wine glass (but I don't drink so have no idea what's good)
Beef jerky
Candy kittens
Some of the 'special' mayonnaise flavour bottles as he loves mayonnaise

What else?? What would you like? What do I even put it all in? 🤷‍♀️🤣

Some nice cheese and crackers

OneFrenchEgg · 27/11/2022 13:50

I feel like the sauces are going a bit random? I'd probably stick to nice crisps and then a couple of wine glasses.

The sauces seem very random.

Honestly if he asked for wine I'd just give him wine, or a wine subscription. A vineyard tour voucher if he is particularly into wine would be nice, as would a couple of nice wine glasses or a corkscrew or wine keeper/bottle stopper.

Bu the time you've bought all the bits and pieces of food he may or may not like then I imagine it will add up to the same price.

Some nice cheese and crackers

How would I add cheese though? We live together so he would see it in the fridge 🤔

He likes sauces and fancy bottles so I thought they'd be a nice addition 🤷‍♀️

It does sound a rather random selection. Just do the wine and a subscription to Decanter magazine?

I'll look at glasses, corkscrews and bottle stoppers thank you!! I just wanted to add a bit of lots of the things he likes 😅

Does he like chocolate? I have just bought some chocolate planets as a gift that look absolutely beautiful and relate to the person’s interests. Or a sack of coal which is actually marshmallows?

LeafHunter · 27/11/2022 16:06

Something to have with the sauces? I’d also do cheese and crackers and just put them in a bag in the fridge and ask him not to look? I love cheese and would be equally happy if DH said “I want to her you some cheese for Christmas, what would you like? It’s part of your present”.

chikp · 27/11/2022 16:08

A box of sensations crisps how's that going ti fit in the box? Do you mean like a wholesale box of crisps?!

I'd go for a tub of celebrations or something

OneFrenchEgg · 27/11/2022 16:08

Yes I'd do something that matched the sauces

OneFrenchEgg · 27/11/2022 16:08

Or probably just ditch them and stick to wine themed stuff

chikp · 27/11/2022 16:09

Noodles to go with the soy sauce?

AdaColeman · 27/11/2022 16:27

I'd put the bottles of sauce to one side, and produce them as a treat later on, perhaps at Chinese New Year.
To go with the wine, I'd get a couple of nice glasses and a corkscrew.
Choose a corkscrew that has a spike that is actually twisted like a spiral, not one that is straight with just a flange.
If you still want some food treats, get some nuts and cheese biscuits from M&S.

EverybodyDance · 27/11/2022 16:29

You could keep the cheese in the boot in December.

You can get chilli jam for cheese and crackers which goes nice with wine.

LilyGlobe · 27/11/2022 16:30

Dartington crystal glasses
pistachios
almonds (I love salted or smoked)
favourite chocolate
IOU voucher to cook him something to go with the sauces
garlic salt
Himalayan salt
Anything from Burren Balsamics

LilyGlobe · 27/11/2022 16:32

Le Creuset corkscrew - it’s about £20 but never lets us down (and we open a lot of wine 😂)

TellMeWhere · 27/11/2022 16:38

Condiments and whatnot just feel like part of a grocery shop. If Dh presented me with a bottle of kikkoman, he'd be wearing it! It's soy sauce!

My husband is getting cheese for christmas. I don't live with him at the min so it will be delivered in whatever thoughtless box they deliver stuff in and opened by him. He'll have to supply his own crackers, cos I'm not there to buy them Grin
