Damp in daughter's bedroom

Both walls are external and we finished painting a week ago. This bit is still damp but under the paint iykwim.

I'm guessing we need to call a damp specialist? Any ideas

Is the room newly plastered?

Assuming it's an upstairs room?

Do you have any drainpipes running down the outside of that wall near the damp patch? If so they may need repair/replacing?

Can you see if any of the mortar between the bricks is damaged on the outside around that area? if so you may need a brick ice to come out and remove and replace the pointing.

Do you have any paperwork running in the wall cavity near that wall to a room downstairs? If so it could have a leak and you need a plumber.

What's on the other side of that wall? Could there be a leaking downpipe? Also, could it be condensation?
I'd be tempted to get a specialist in if it's that bad when you've only just painted it.

This is the other side, we're a bungalow but it's elevated.

We've got cavity wall insulation (it should be banned, put in by previous owners).

No downpipes or guttering nearby.

I think we'll have to get a specialist in, such a pain. May get a dehumidifier too, been meaning to for a while but this may give me the kick up the bum I need.

No not newly plastered. There was a bit of mould when we cleared the room but we thought that it was because of condensation as my daughter had so much crap in her room there wasn't space for air to circulate!

Don't let them talk you into damp course injections! They don't solve the problem.

You've got several vbricks I can see where the pointing has gone so you have gaps where water could be getting in, I can't quite see round the corner but it looks like you have some bits where the pointing is a different lighter colour so someone may have patched it previously.

What's happening at the bottom of that wall?
