Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just about to get up, I brought my brew back to bed for a change. I think I prefer sitting in the kitchen though!

Today is deep clean the living room day, so the decorations can go up next Sunday. Everything pulled out & cleaned, curtains to wash, sofa cushion covers etc.

First though I'm going to iron uniforms and wash up the few pots there are.

The girls dad is going to bring some ladders from his mums, and nip to Asda. We're having roast pork for tea but need a few bits for with it.

later, I'll try and paint another robin for my friend, and finish the crochet spikes for the stegosaurus I've been very slowly making.

What about all of you? 🙂

Need to take dog for a walk soon. Then rest of day is washing, clean kitchen and dining room and knit some more on my socks that are Christmas presents 🎁

ShadowPuppets · 27/11/2022 09:28

Have parked the toddler in front of CBeebies while I try and get the baby down to nap. DH and I both have a stinking cold (thank you, toddler nursery germs!) so suspect today will be as light as we can make it. Was thinking about making some bread later and maybe venturing out for a walk if the lemsip kicks in.

PermanentTemporary · 27/11/2022 09:28

Morning! Currently in bed with coffee and the radio. For the first time in what feels like forever, I am at home today, dp is not here, and I am NOT seeing any elderly relatives. Incredible day of freedom beckons. I'm going to go to the local craft fair and have a potter round John Lewis and the covered market for Christmas stuff.

Morning all. I’m shattered today, I didn’t sleep well and had to do the 2.30am pick-up from work for dd18. She said she’s happy to start getting taxis home from next weekend now she’s been at the job for a few weeks which is good news for me!

So far me, dh and dd8 are awake. We’ve got a busy day today. Dd8 is taking part in a Santa parade with her dance group so I have to take her into town for 12.30pm. Going to have to get us both moving and in the shower soon. I’m then coming home, picking up (hungover) dh and the other 2 girls and we’re going to a family christening. My sister is a chaperone at the parade as my niece is also going so she’s going to stay til after they’ve done their dance then come to the christening and bring dd8 to meet us. At least dh being hungover slightly means he won’t want to drink today so he can drive us home from the christening this evening once he’s sobered up and I can have a few drinks this afternoon.

We should be home for 7pm ish so I’ll put the youngest straight to bed and we’ll put a film on with the older 2 before an early night ready for another week of work and school.

AllotmentTime · 27/11/2022 09:36

Morning Lucysmam et al

I have specifically blocked out today in the calendar as “DO NOTHING”. A day of rest is very very much needed by all in this house!

In reality I want to get some cleaning done, but that will only be as I feel like it. Leisurely rather than a manic blitz! And maybe some Christmas shopping online. Otherwise, lying around doing not much.

DH is crap at relaxing but the football will help. All his favourite hobbies/activities are outside ones and it’s miserable rain out, so I might rope him into a bit of cleaning too.

The DC will be gaming as much as they’re allowed, but to their disgust we will also force them to take screen breaks and do homework.

Roast pork for dinner here too, plus Strictly.

autumnlights · 27/11/2022 09:42

We are moving soon so I'll be packing something's into boxes. I may put on a Christmas film while I potter about because I have to start now if I want to watch all my favourites before Christmas! Im planning to take DCs out for a walk later this afternoon to see how many people have trees up and buy some fresh vegetables for Sunday dinner later. For now, I'm enjoying a cup of tea with the kitchen door open because I strangely enjoy feeling a bit cold!

CrapBucket · 27/11/2022 09:45

I love these threads. So comforting.

I have a FREE DAY and am lying in bed deciding what to do. I think it'll be drink coffee in bed, go for a run, tidy the study, and then meal planning and shopping for the week ahead.

PermanentTemporary · 27/11/2022 09:50

Ooh meal planning, good thought. Last week of not having to cook before ds is home from uni.

whiteonesugar · 27/11/2022 09:50

No plans to go out so just having a cuppa and will get a tracksuit on to get some jobs done indoors. We have a slot booked at the tip later after a big clear out yesterday so DH will do that later, my oldest DS needs his room clearing out - he keeps everything he’s ever touched apparently, and there’s no room to move in his bedroom at the mo, so will get some stuff cleared in there ahead of the tip run. His football match was cancelled today due to the pitch being waterlogged so he’s a bit moody at the mo, will chivvy him along shortly.

Slow roasted pork shoulder for dinner and need to took school uniforms and clean the floor but might do that tomorrow. Depends how I feel. Quite nice knowing we can just potter a bit!

BCBird · 27/11/2022 09:51

Omg. Feel like a sloth. I'm not feeling great having a flare up and feelin sorry for myself but have decided might clear out a couple of drawers.thought if I tell someone it might get done🤣

TeddyTed · 27/11/2022 09:56

I’ve been quite organised this weekend and all the washing, ironing and food shopping is done. I’m going to pick my mum up in a bit, go to home bargains then on to see my brother. When I get back my DH’s family will be here so we’ll have coffee and cake with them. Then hopefully a nice quiet evening with the strictly results (missed the show last night) and chicken parcels, greens and mash for dinner.

Peridot1 · 27/11/2022 09:57

Morning @lucysmam and everyone

it will be a quiet one here for me as managed to fall coming downstairs this morning and hurt my knee. So it will be some Xmas shopping online, writing some Christmas cards and reading a couple of Christmas magazines. I may try to clear out a drawer too.

And it’s roast pork here for dinner today also. Seems to be a theme! DH will cook it though.

I might also attempt to make the Christmas cake later.

BCBird · 27/11/2022 09:58

Pork.dinner. that a great reward for the hard work🙂

ChurlishAF · 27/11/2022 10:00

I have felt a bit ill for a few days with a cold and cough, not terrible but under the weather for sure. I think very much colds as brewing for 3 days, at its worse for 3 days and then subsides for 3 days, I’m on the day 3 of at its worse for 3 days.

I am going to sit and make a Christmas wreath this afternoon from material scraps I have and watch tv and not do much at all.

We are supposed to be having a review of our finances this afternoon but my head is not working at full capacity so may suggest we leave till next weekend.

The Black Friday ring doorbell turns up today so I think DH will enjoy setting that up, he is also repairing the shower today.

TheOtherHotstepper · 27/11/2022 10:00

DH has just rung to say he is coming home from his work trip tonight - not tomorrow. If I'd known this earlier, I would, it have volunteered to work this afternoon!

Change bed, Hoover, collect cat food, clean kitchen and bathroom etc etc

Ragwort · 27/11/2022 10:04

I am off to work, it's our Town's Christmas Fair so it should be nice and festive. I manage a charity shop and it's always a good atmosphere. DH away visiting DS at Uni so planning to eat all my favourite food tonight - the sorts of things he doesn't like, glass - or three - of wine and catching up on tv. I LOVE being home alone and now DH is retired I don't get enough time to myself Grin.

Simonjt · 27/11/2022 10:09

A lazy day here, I dropped grandma at the train station this morning so we all waved her off. My husband starts back at work on Tuesday, so we need to get all of his work clothes ready and sort our daughters nursery bag etc. We’d hoped to have him off until the end of January, but our bank balance said absolutely not.

My son has a friend coming over to play later, so I’ll be taking them somewhere they can scooter about a bit.

BeastOfBODMAS · 27/11/2022 10:11

Hey @lucysmam waves

Baby has decided she’s not napping this morning so I’m having a very late shower then DH and I will hopefully take it in turns to drink a full cup of tea, hot, from a proper cup instead of a flask.

He wants to put the tree up, I’ve tidied the dining room to fit it in. I’d quite like to make a couple more Christmas cards and get out of the house for an airing.

Leftovers for dinner followed by a glass of wine (also leftover, needs finishing) and the tipsy rhubarb and orange crumble.

AuntieEntity · 27/11/2022 10:14

House cleaning and laundry today, possibly some batch cooking. I've been poorly for weeks and the house is a mess. Probably knock up a basic roast dinner for me and DD then watch a movie.

Squaffle · 27/11/2022 10:27

DD at a party this morning so I’m enjoying a coffee and reading the paper before I go and pick her up. Home for lunch and then off to the cinema to see Matilda the Musical. Macaroni cheese with bacon & leeks for tea, and a v early night ready for work/school tomorrow as she was up coughing and in bed with me from 3am!

riotlady · 27/11/2022 10:27

DH is working so DD(4) and I have been having a lazy morning. She’s watching the Tinkerbell movie while I mumsnet and munch toast. Later we’re going to head to B and Q to see if we can find a reasonably priced artificial tree- this is our first Christmas in our house and previously our flat only had room for a dinky slimline tree so very excited to get a full size one!

Then we’re heading to the garden centre to choose a new decoration for said tree and to get lunch. This afternoon DD has some homework and reading from school to do and then when DH gets home at 4 we’ll put the tree up. Sausages, chips and beans for tea and probably a glass of wine once DD is in bed.

JMAngel1 · 27/11/2022 10:28

Lots of jobs to do today - somehow Sunday has turned in to errand day!
Done 2 loads of washing - hung out - hah! I'll prob be bringing it in later wetter than it went out!
Then got to go to the tip, post some things I sold on Vinted, drop a friend's bday pressie round and pick up keys from my mum and dad's. Also need to sort out donations for the School Xmas Fair - they've sent out SOS messages that they need more donations - sign of the times?
DDs have gone for a walk with DH - we'll all meet back home at lunch time.
Then got to do ironing and make a fish pie.
Then Village Lights switch on at 4.30pm which should be nice - lots of stalls - hopeing to get a brandy hot chocolate 😊!
Home to fish pie and a Xmas movie.

fruitsalad44 · 27/11/2022 10:31

Had a busy day yesterday at the Christmas markets so taking it easy today. Dh currently making bacon butties. Dd just woken up from her first nap of the day (I swear they are getting shorter). We've got some chores to do then might go for a muddy stomp to my mums later for a brew. Then it'll be home for a roast dinner/tea and strictly, baths and bed.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 27/11/2022 10:33

Morning! Off to a late start, so we’re still finishing breakfast.
I need to get cracking on cooking lunch, as my dad’s coming round - can’t decide between a big vat of red lentil dal and lots of sides or pasta.
This evening will just be sorting stuff for tomorrow, after a week off work.

CoorieIn · 27/11/2022 10:33

Sent the children upstairs to play monopoly and I am having a coffee in peace.

Will get showered, dogs out and then put the Christmas tree up (yes I know it's still Nov but they are desperate to put it up and I really am quite happy to have a bit of festive cheer in the house)

There is a community light thing tonight that DH will take them to and then we'll have a Chinese takeaway for a treat tonight.
