looked at a house today in Blackwood. Is this a nice place to live? looking to move from the southwest. Just me and my husband, all kids have grown up so down sizing

Really nice location. Loads of beautiful places to visit nearby, and Cardiff isn't far away.

Like alot of towns round that way, its a bit run down in places, but you get loads of house for your money.

Lovely place. Be aware there's significant problems with anti social behaviour at night in the town centre.

Looked like a nice rd, with nice houses and nice cars, I won’t be going to town centre in the evening I’m too old for that

Ime Welsh valley families are very houseproud so you’ll get lots of really nicely maintained and updated houses in areas that can be a bit grim.
Upside is easy transport links, roads are good, bridges now foc.
For preference I’d look at Monmouth area or go really west to Pembrokeshire but prices will be higher.

It's a nice high street in the daytime btw!

If the house is in a nice bit of Blackwood, it can be a lovely area.

And like PP said, you'll get a lot of house for your money

We do not have a big budget. Just want to make the right decision. I hope the people are friendly, my Bristol accent is strong lol. We do not want to move again

What a great update! So glad to hear that it has worked out well for you OP.

Just need to find my way around and look for a new job in the NHS if possible, will probably have to travel.
so nice and quiet, maybe that will change in the summer.
