When do you stop being absolutely knackered from a general anaesthetic? I’m on day five

Depends what you had done too. I had a 5hr GA for a spinal op and between the GA and the healing I did nothing but nap for 3 weeks

Did the hospital not discuss the after effects etc with you?

Yeah. Ofc. They said tiredness but I’m surprised by the sledgehammer nature of it.

How long were you under for? I had a three hour op and it was a few weeks before I wasn't exhausted. Not just the GA but my body generally recovering.

Different people have different recovery rates. I have taken 10 days to recover from GA for dental work.

Are you also taking co codamol as prescribed pain relief? That practically knocks me out it makes me so tired.

Dont forget your body is also working hard to recover from surgery which will make you feel tired, as Will sitting around not doing very much whilst you recover.

I've had several GA in the last 2 years- the first 3 days are always a total right off and then for a good 2-3 weeks after I sleep alot

I had GA for dental work and it took a good 2 weeks. If you are prone to low iron I found taking some iron tablets helped

I had one last year and was exhausted for a few weeks. It does start to lift.
