My Firm have just moved from London to a rural area, which is lovely. But. Where I am not around Christmas and I don't see decorations etc I am in no way excited about it. I cannot see anyone's decorations out at the mo, I don't have normal channels on TV so no Christmas adverts, and am finding it hard to get I to it

Anyone else feel this way?

I cannot see anyone has their decs up yet. Because of electric and the lights.?

Even the so called influences, who I can't watch these days, haven't got theirs up yet !

It’s November.

November.

the vast vast majority of people don’t have Christmas decorations up in November.

blackberrybat · 26/11/2022 08:58

It's only November though!

It’s just you. 🤷‍♀️

Also, it’s not even December yet.

girlmom21 · 26/11/2022 08:59

It's not December yet so lots of people don't have them up.

I went to The Range yesterday and it's beautiful in there so if you have one nearby it'll get you in the spirit! Or find a garden centre on your way home from work.

PS it took me a minute to realise when you said 'my firm' you meant the company you work for, not some arm of the mafia Grin

Itwasntevenblackpudding · 26/11/2022 08:59

It's. Not. Christmas.

It's not even December.

mamabear715 · 26/11/2022 09:00

So? Be a trend setter! Get yours up. :-)
Play some Christmas music - the kids & I did while putting our tree up - on Nov 15th! DD is autistic & ADORES Christmas, she'd have the tree up all year if it was up to her..
Speak to people / neighbours etc with a smile & hopefully they'll respond & you'll feel better.. :-)
Oh & mince pies. obviously. I've probably eaten a couple of boxes of them already.. ;-)

Tia74 · 26/11/2022 09:03

😆😆 no mafia here

I get it's just November. By now I would normally have mine up!

I think I'm gona have to push it and put them up later. Sod it

That's right, Xmas film on, decs up, so living in that will help

Honestly, I understand it maybe too early for some of you. But in out house, just 2 adults 🤭 its always been middle of November

Ooh I would love that OP.! I do like some things about Christmas but I can’t be doing with the horrendous Christmas songs and decorations everywhere starting in November.

however if you like it, have fun doing your own and ask if you can do some Christmas decorations at work?

I thought OP was part of the royal family

Agree with everyone else, chill your beans, it’s November!

EspeciallyD · 26/11/2022 09:19

I think first week in December is when lights on houses etc tend to start appearing round here but town centres have been looking festive since the day after Remembrance Sunday with most switching their main lights on last weekend or this, so go for a wander round the nearest town in the late afternoon would be my tip.

Tia74 · 26/11/2022 09:28

Yup we do normally at work and with new added colleagues I think they agree

Honestly about the early November thing. I get it. Not what I am saying. I know many many people not interested. But we always have been and normally around my way they have too. Just not this year

JackTorrance · 26/11/2022 09:31

Both December and decoration are abbreviated to Dec. There's a reason for that.

Allsnotwell · 26/11/2022 09:35

I did a simile move and round here there’s nothing until December - at a few tins of chocolate in. It’s weird!

AlwaysFullOfQuestions22 · 26/11/2022 09:37

Normally around here about 20 or so houses are fully decorated outside by mid nov. This year theres 2!

People round here have started putting up house decorations, towns decorated with lights but not on yet. My tree has been up for a week still not feeling very festive though! Thought it would make us feel all christmassy 🎄

tigger1001 · 26/11/2022 09:56

I'm another who is saying it's only November.

My work are putting the decorations up next week.

But you could be right in that maybe fewer people will have visible lights due to energy costs.

thelobsterquadrille · 26/11/2022 09:56

It's too early.

I know one person with decorations up and honestly it all feels a bit silly this early on.

Skelligsfeathers · 26/11/2022 09:57

BECAUSE IT IS NOT CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!

BlackeyedGruesome · 26/11/2022 09:57

Christmas lights have been up round the inner city for nearly a month...

PatriciaPattersonGimlin · 26/11/2022 10:01

Putting Christmas shit up before Hallowe'en is like a national disease. It's like as a people we cannot function unless there's something going on in the background to keep us entertained.

NotMeNoNo · 26/11/2022 10:15

Rural area? Go to a big garden centre. That should fix you.

Tia74 · 26/11/2022 10:17

Thank you all for replying. A bit of a mix but mainly bah humbug it's not Dec yet 😆

I do get that

I just didn't know whether it was just me and my situation or others, in the Nov camp, felt the same

OP posts:
PinkHeadphones · 26/11/2022 10:20

You know how you are feeling because there’s no Christmas stuff up. That’s how I feel when I see Christmas stuff up before December. I bloody love Christmas but it ruins it for me to be surrounded by Christmas so early, it’s less special, and my own tradition of the 12 days of Christmas - so Christmas goes on until Jan 6 - is almost impossible now as everyone is so sick of it all by Boxing Day.
