I currently have a 2week old, born week 39+2. We are combo feeding, majority of it is breast fed but he gets formula too.

Should I be concerned that he can drink a whole pre made aptamil bottle (200ml) in one sitting and still want feeding an hour or two after?
At his 10 day check up he hadn’t quite gained back his birth weight (70g off), so the midwife said to feed 120ml each feed but it’s working out more than that.
Can I over feed him formula?

When you say he wants feeding after an hour, would he take another bottle or are you talking about breastfeeding?

And yes you can over feed formula but you'll probably know because they pile

So tonight I went for a sleep and my other half looked after him. When he came up he said he’d had a full bottle of formula. 1st feed around 9pm (120mls) and then a second around 11pm (90mls). He was still showing the feeding cues at 23:44, I reckon he would have had another bottle if I offered it. But I decided to put him on the breast instead, which has settled him now.

I’m just scared about formula because of over feeding, I don’t want to stretch his stomach unnecessarily.

He has 2 lots of formula feeds (120mls, which is increasing) during the night (normally around 10pm and 2am). And then throughout the day he his breastfed every 3-4 hours.

When ever I research it no-one seems to be able to give an exact amount on how much a child should have, it just implies it’s basically down to the child.
