Why is it when you find something you love, it's waaaay outside your price range?

Just seen a gorgeous wallpaper. I need to paper my hallway at some point. I've been looking for ages. Then I see a Morris paper that matches the house perfectly & it's over £100 a roll!😵

I know! I've seen the perfect one for my downstairs loo but it's £190 a roll. £190!! So now I'm looking for similar but cheaper versions but none of them are as nice. I'm a living embodiment of wanting a champagne lifestyle on a lemonade budget when it comes to decor 😂

Haha I’ve picked a wallpaper and have spotted it three times on the TV (one was one of those million pound property shows) but alas it is still out of my price range so I know how you feel. Could you cut the cost by using it in panels?

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 25/11/2022 12:21

Happens to me all the time. Sometimes I can seek out a second hand item, but obviously that's not an option with wallpaper! Is there any way you could just use it as an accent in a small area?

splatfrog · 25/11/2022 12:55

It's for a hallway that goes through 3 levels so I'd need about 20 rolls..😥Can we do a show-n-tell of these fabulous papers? I'd love to see yours @igglu is it Cole & Son?
This is mine £137 a roll ffs

I want this one but I'd need to pay someone to put it up and we haven't even had a chance to view the house I want to put it in 🤣

igglu · 25/11/2022 16:56

It's not Cole and son, although I do love their designs. It's this one from 17 patterns: www.17patterns.com/shop/wallcoverings/jellyfish-wallpaper/jellyfish-wallpaper-black/

It's so full on but I think it would look amazing!

igglu · 25/11/2022 16:58

Yours looks amazing as well @splatfrog 🤩. We're all going to have to save our pennies!

I love jelly fish!

I once set a budget to do my flat up, I then found a really amazing wooden bath tub, I ended up spending my entire bathroom budget on a single bath tub. I still love it, even if it does mean the flat still isn’t finished.

splatfrog · 25/11/2022 18:04

Loving the jellyfish. It goes really well with brushed brass fittings

I like dreaming what I'd do if I had money.

Then I go back and paint over the cracks with tippex. Grin

It’s gorgeous but as you say, very full-on. I wouldn’t be inclined to use it all over as patterns like that can make a room look smaller. I’d love to use the cushions as interest on a plain sofa or bed, maybe put the wallpaper on half the walls under a dado rail (is that the right word for the one halfway up the wall?) or on part of the stairwell if it looks right, but not the whole hallway, bit ‘Boris in Downing Street’! 😂

splatfrog · 25/11/2022 20:35

Yes, I thought Downing St too... 😂
