Been hiccuping for over an hour now, suppose it serves me right for drinking some lemonade too quickly… Was funny at first but now it’s becoming exhausting and I can’t fall asleep for it…

Help???

Drink a glass of water through a straw while keeping your ears blocked. Works every time.

quietnightmare · 25/11/2022 01:22

Drink water from the other side of the glass

Hold your breath

Yawning

Laughing

Burping

Jump up and down

Good luck op

Get a teaspoon of sugar and pour some vinegar over it until it’s soaked in vinegar and drink it off the spoon. Tastes weird but works!

loubieloo4 · 25/11/2022 01:31

Have you got any gaviscon?

Chloefairydust · 25/11/2022 01:54

It’s just randomly stopped 🥳

Im so relieved, I tried the drinking water with a straw, still had hiccups, then the yawning and jumping up and down… tried to distract myself by reading some random threads on mumsnet… And just when I was getting really desperate and working up the nerve to drink some vinegar 🤢… It just stopped on its own 😂 … Aww it feels so good to breathe normally again… Going to get some sleep now.

Thanks for all the interesting cures haha… anyone know of any other cures though feel free to share? Will be good to know for next time lol

It was me startling you that did it - just a delayed reaction!

Glad it’s stopped, haven’t had them in ages but they’re bloody annoying when they take hold.

HairyMcLarie · 25/11/2022 04:13

Teaspoon of balsamic vinegar. Never ever fails

DutchessOfMuck · 25/11/2022 04:34

What works for me is to slowly count from 20 backwards. Works everytime.

Pollywoddles · 25/11/2022 04:37

Hold your breath and swallow hard three times.

SeatonCarew · 25/11/2022 05:16

A spoonful of sugar, without sucking it.

It irritates the palate.

Ashy123 · 25/11/2022 05:56

Drink a tint sip of vinegar and tip your head forward / upside down then swallow - instant cure and works every time :)

autienotnaughty · 25/11/2022 13:16

Hold your breath for as long as possible
