Random stuff you thought everyone did

What random things in your life did you think everyone did/felt or random things other people do that surprised you

  • live your life constantly anxious
  • talk to yourself even when your having a conversation with someone
  • pretend to laugh in social situations
  • leave social situations thinking to yourself 'why did I act like/say that
  • literally not listen to any word someone says in a conversation
  • think everyone around you seems so happy
  • stay in all day and watch tv and do nothing else
  • have awful things happen to you but it just doesn't seem to effect you so you think it's weird when other people in a similar situation act the opposite to you
  • do something you hate for years because everyone else is like playing an instrument

Erm. You okay?

Valid8me · 25/11/2022 01:09

I definitely don't live my life constantly anxious, or talk to myself whilst having a conversation with others. A couple of the other things listed I may do occasionally but not most of them.

PinkButtercups · 25/11/2022 01:39

@AgathaMystery Make you feel better and a bit superior there did it?

Have you spoken to the doctor OP? Especially about always being anxious.

AgathaMystery · 25/11/2022 01:44

No? I don’t think she’s okay at all - I was asking because she’s clearly struggling.

She was asking if the OP is OK, which is a relevant question following such a post.

If you’re asking if those things are done by everyone, no. I don’t do any of those things - it might be worth talking to a psychologist about these feelings.

Uninterestedfamily · 25/11/2022 07:32

I do some of those, OP, and I have ADD.

Living with anxiety all the time must be very difficult, and a couple of your behaviours also seem quite unusual. I also suggest you see your GP with your list that you've posted here.

Ukholidaysaregreat · 25/11/2022 07:36

Might be worth reading around ASD and seeing if any of that resonates with you?

FrangipaniBlue · 25/11/2022 08:54

Inner monologues.

Honestly had no clue until about a year ago that not everyone has these!!!

Also bendy fingers.

I have hyper mobility and my fingers can bend up (back?) at about 50 degrees. I didn't realise that most people's hands are relatively flat ?!

Carouselfish · 25/11/2022 08:58

Not being able to see people's faces in dreams. Can dream every detail but faces always non descript. Thought it was just a common feature of dreams like the waking up if you die in a dream thing, but no, just me.

Turquoisa80 · 25/11/2022 09:00

I have anxiety, I pre empt all the time for example if I need to go somewhere will it be busy and I'll talk myself out of it. I have to talk myself down all the time as I'm always thinking ppl are judging me.. Ie did I talk to much, did I say anything wrong, do I look dumb. But I kind of think it's common and other people do it too which gives me some consolation.

Fleurdaisy · 25/11/2022 09:03

Some of them take me back to after my DP died in an RTA, I was in a very shocked, dark state for a long time. It became a way of life that wasn’t good for me. I didn’t get counselling and now regret that.
I hope you’re ok, OP, but it might help to speak to someone irl. Remember the Samaritans are always there to listen anonymously or you can speak to your GP.

It was my first thought as well. Probably worth speaking to a doctor for some help.

peppapig79 · 25/11/2022 09:48

Are these things that you do OP?
