I mean, in Canada it was October 10, but it's very much today in the US.

I'm hoping they work for Google and they're working on a "imagine a world if Google didn't exist" marketing campaign

Just about to pull the turkey out of the brine.

I'm in Georgia (the one in the US), up to my eyeballs with Turkey and relatives. It's definitely Thanksgiving.

When you are all sitting round the table do you each take a turn in saying something for which you are thankful?

Well l’m comatose on the sofa having just cooked and eaten a full turkey dinner and three varieties of pie for dessert. If I have to do it all again tomorrow I will be very pissed off!

The kids managed to be thankful for Mommy cooking and I was thankful for the turkey cooking on time, but then given my Britishness you cant really count on us for proper American sentiments! Most ‘proper’ American Thanksgivings I have been to, they say grace at the beginning and go around saying what they are thankful for during the starters. The little kids have usually been doing crafts based on it at school during the week before too

We used to, but it became too political as Thanksgiving often comes after an election. We just say grace, and dig into the food.

You really need attention that much to create a post about this? You couldn’t just search on google or even look at your calendar on your phone or laptop or outlook?

ComtesseDeSpair · 25/11/2022 10:19

Well, having had 17 people in the house until 2am, we’ve woken up this morning to an indoor ambient temperature 4.5 degrees warmer than it usually is; so I’m thankful to everyone for leaving their body heat behind.

Americans here (well I'm pseudo American)- we don't do the whole 'what we are thankful for' thing but we do a recap of the best bits of the year instead. I cook a lot because I love cooking but we don't do 'Thanksgiving food' because we are mostly vegetarian. So we cook food we like- this year it was a Middle Eastern meal, last year it was Mexican food, most years it's Indian food. And yes it is on a Thursday! Why would it be on a Friday?

Anyway I made 3 kinds of salad, a soup, three fish dishes for my in laws who are not vegetarian, a pistachio rice dish, 2 different kinds of baked vegetables, then a whole bunch of dips that we made at home, DH made moussaka (I don't like moussaka very much), and there was shakshuka because the kids threw in a last minute request for it. So a very random mish mash of Middle Eastern food but it was all eaten, and now I'm only still gently recovering from all that food.

PS. I hate pumpkin pie. There was no pumpkin pie.
