If you were a wallet where would you be

Anyone else's husband forever losing their wallet? 🙃

It has disappeared between last night and this morning, he stopped at the shop on his way home, nothing has been handed in and no cards have been used up until they were frozen this morning.
We have looked:
Down and around the sofa
Washing and washing basket
Washing machine
Both cars
Under the bed
In drawers
In our 3yo's toy box (she's usually very good at telling us if she's picked it up and says she hasn't)
Everywhere physically visible in the house

Where on earth could it be?
Last time (only last week) the whole thing went through the washing machine where I found it.

You've not picked it up and put it in your handbag? For me it's usually at the bottom of my bag or coat pocket.

My dad thought he'd left his at home and asked me if he could use my bank card. He'd left his wallet in his car in the middle consol bit.

IntergalacticP · 24/11/2022 10:59

Pocket of trousers/coat he had on at shop?

Nectarpeach · 24/11/2022 11:00

Checked all pockets, including coats and shoes? my partner occasionally puts his in his shoe after he takes them off
Any little shelves around the house he might walk past as he got home

Nectarpeach · 24/11/2022 11:01

Under the car in case he dropped it getting out

BobbyBobbyBobby · 24/11/2022 11:03

Dropped and picked up by kids who have kept cash only and chucked the cards and wallet away.

Retrace route and look in hedges etc along the way.

NoSquirrels · 24/11/2022 11:03

Bag for life he used at the shop

Cupboard he put things he bought at the shop in

Christmas present idea - AirTags or Tile smart tags Grin

KavvLar · 24/11/2022 11:05

Tumble dryer? I may have both washed and tumble dried DHs security pass card for work recently. Best thing is that it still works!

walletwhereareyou · 24/11/2022 11:05

Thankyou have checked all of these! No luck sadly but he's just gone to retrace his steps now, if he's dropped it while getting back into the car last night it will be long gone, is it worth a report to the police?
Funnily enough I ordered a tile tracker for his Christmas a couple of days ago! Honestly it better help this is a (at minimum) monthly occurrence and it's driving me insane!

In the car but in a sneaky tucked away spot around the drivers seat.
DH's wallet was missing for a year and was in the car all along; black leather and was well-camouflaged.

NoSquirrels · 24/11/2022 11:08

Pile of papers on kitchen worktop/other flat surface nearish to door?

And relook in all the places your DH ‘looked’ if he’s anything like mine Hmm

Most ‘missing’ things are camoflauged in some way - our brain is programmed to look for ‘a wallet’ with the picture we have in our mind, so if it’s lying at an odd angle or next to something else that it plausibly could be part of, or in some other way
doesnt confirm to ‘wallet’ in our mental picture our brain overlooks it as we search…

walletwhereareyou · 24/11/2022 11:11

Lol @NoSquirrels that's what I'm currently doing and I'll recheck the car once he's home.

Probably in the same place as my daughter's. Hers has been missing since July and has her driving licence in it.
I know the minute I report her licence as missing and pay for a replacement, it'll turn up.

LozzaChops101 · 24/11/2022 11:16

My tile trackers have changed my life 😳

pizzaHeart · 24/11/2022 11:17

in the car but vertical or between something or further away from the driver’s seat.

walletwhereareyou · 24/11/2022 11:18

@MrsPnut isn't that always the way, last time this happened and we ordered new bank cards it appeared a couple of days later (I've checked there and it's not there this time) 😂

@LozzaChops101 are they good? I'm hoping they make my life a bit less stressful 😅

In the fridge
Kitchen bin
Recycling bin
On the windowsill outside the front door

PeonyRose80 · 24/11/2022 11:35

Between the driver’s seat and the car door or down the back of the car seat!

dodobookends · 24/11/2022 11:35

Does your dd have a dolls house, toy cooker or postbox? Check in there.
In/under dd's bed.
Vegetable rack.
Shoe rack.
Fallen inside a welly boot.

SageRosemary · 24/11/2022 11:56

On the shelf in the guest loo or the family bathroom.

In a different jacket/trousers to the one he THINKS he was wearing last night.

Within one metre of the TV remote control.

Mantlepiece.

Under a newspaper or flyer he picked up to read.

walletwhereareyou · 24/11/2022 11:57

Wallet has been found!
It had fallen down the side of DD's bed when DH did bedtime last night.
Thankyou for all of your helpful suggestions!
