Heated throws?

I'm not sure if I'm confused by too much choice or too little, but either way I'd love some help.

I'd like to buy my 2 teens and 1 preteen a heated throw each for Christmas. I was envisioning a sort of fleece blanket that I put batteries in but have I got it completely wrong? The only ones I can find are more bed sized than lounging on the sofa sized.

Does anyone have one? Would you recommend it?

Thanks so much!

I have one and I wouldn't be without it. I think the large ones are normally the same size of a single duvet, mine is anyway I've not checked the sizes on others but I'd imagine being throws they're not going to be tiny.
They plug into the mains, most are machine washable and cost pennies an hour to run. Mines about 4p an hour and SO warm!

Puddywoodycat · 23/11/2022 20:20

Not sure about battery's ones ? Someone posted earlier about a walk about self heated hoodie?

We have some Dreamland throws I got about three years ago now.
Very very HAPPY I did..

Puddywoodycat · 23/11/2022 20:21

Two are like fleece and one is like a furry throwing

I have this and love it! Use it most nights once DC have gone to bed and turn the heating off. Needs plugging in though (the cord is quite long).

Prices have gone up at least £15 since I bought it so I'm guessing they're popular.

Here are a selection from Lakeland - I have the 'Sherpa'. I don't think you can buy heated throw with batteries, I think they are all plug in.
I LOVE mine , super warm, I can work from home all day without the heating with one of these.

SavingsThreads · 23/11/2022 20:34

I have one from Amazon you plug in is shorter than a single duvet but about the same width. Is amazing

Always4Brenner · 23/11/2022 20:35

Must get one I think after Christmas I’ll save for one.

OlafLovesAnna · 23/11/2022 22:05

Thanks for the links ❤️

They look lovely but so pricey! I’m not sure I can run to three at those prices.

Also, Lakeland take orders then don't deliver for months, in my experience.

Spanglybangles · 24/11/2022 00:00

Costco do them at varying prices. Thus is their cheaper one which is available in 3 colours and reviews well.

I have a heated throw and I also have this (which requires a battery pack) amzn.eu/d/fHLUhHI

I look completely ridiculous wearing it but it's lovely and warm.

Yep. Currently on week 7 or 8 of waiting. Possibly next week now, it seems. Very unimpressive service.

Goodness you worried me! I bought 3 of them from Lakeland on. Tuesday, but just checked my email and I have a message saying they're with the courier, phew!

Surely something's gone seriously wrong for it to be so long? Can you cancel the order or ask for a discount off what you paid? That's awful service!

OldWivesTale · 24/11/2022 07:21

On another thread it says that Which have reviewed them this month and the Dreamland heated throws have come out as the best. They start at about £60 each OP. Everything is more expensive these days 😪

Yabado · 24/11/2022 07:30

I have a dreamland Alaskan fur heated throw expensive but worth it .
I think I paid £120 in Sept but now they have gone up even more to around £150
But it’s so warm even without the heat on
My other half has one as well and even the dog likes it

Typo22 · 24/11/2022 08:36

I have the Dreamland Alaskan fur heated throw, it's one of the best things I ever bought. It was pricey so I went back and forth about getting one but I wouldn't have been able to cope working from home without it.

Spanglybangles · 24/11/2022 09:52

The dreamland Alaskan husky one is currently £110 in argos, dreamland site and habitat. The same throw in a silver zebra print is £90 on Costco site for anyone looking for it a good price.

JennyMumsnet · 24/11/2022 11:24

Hi @OlafLovesAnna thanks for posting! Just wanted to point you in the direction of our page for the best heated throw blankets as recommended by Mumsnet users. Hope it's of some use, please feel free to let us know if you've any feedback! Smile

Strongbeatsskinny · 24/11/2022 11:45

For those saying Lakeland are making you wait too long for your orders. Many of the dreamland ones are out of stock due to unprecedented demand also some of the own brand ones are out of stock too due to the very high demand this year. The dreamland ones are mostly out of stock on John Lewis and Argos even on the dreamland website. It’s literally because people have been buying them to keep warm.
I’ve had mine for years but we’ve now got one for all of us brought beginning of September and I was told by Lakeland staff that people started buying them in June so yes they are in the biggest demand that they’ve ever experienced in all the years they’ve sold them.

Donotgogentle · 24/11/2022 11:49

My Lakeland heated throw was delivered in 2 days back in September. It’s been a great buy.

Always4Brenner · 24/11/2022 12:08

I’ll save for a heated throw for next winter can’t afford this year but if I buy a good one it will last years.

OlafLovesAnna · 24/11/2022 15:05

Fabulous - thank you for all the links. I'm going to work through them all.

No wonder they're so popular this year, it's getting very chilly, and bills this year are crazy.
