Kids rooms are baltic (boiler currently broken so in extremis atm, but always cold anyway)
Can anyone rec smallish electric heaters (pref with timers etc) that are low cost to run please? If not, are oil heaters any better / cheaper?
sorry if this has been done to death, too cold to think straight atm.

Looking for advice on energy efficient heaters that are also economical to heat medium sized lounge and bedrooms at times many thanks for any advice

I dont think there is any difference in the energy efficiency of electric heaters. Lower kwh ones will be cheaper to run each hour but will produce less heat so will need to run for longer to heat the room to the same level.

Oil heaters have tge advantage that they retain their heat for a while after the power goes off but they take longer to heat up in the first case.

All types of electric heaters are the same. 100% efficient.

We just got oil filled ones for the rooms without heating.
We keep them on low overnight to keep the chill off.
Can't comment on efficiency yet, haven't had the bills but needs must. We can't have mould in the kids rooms.
I researched what I could before and general consensus was oil ones were the best.

I looked into this for the unheated garden office and went with a plug in oil filled radiator. I think mine is 1.5kw. I can either have it on half power (I guess 750w but maybe 1kw) or full power. As well as the power setting it works on a thermostat dial of 1-6 so depending where I have it will cut out sooner once a certain temp has been reached.
