Advice re tickets to see The Mousetrap

Me and a couple of friends have decided we'd like to go and see The Mousetrap, in London. (The date doesn't matter - we can go at any time, as well as any time of day)

Prices for seats vary quite a lot, and so I have two questions:

  • anywhere that sells discounted tickets?
  • some of the cheaper seats are in the second row of the stalls, which surprises me - is there any reason why it wouldn't be good to sit here?

TIA

Try TodayTix or theatre direct. I saw it a few months ago and can’t see why second row stalls would be an issue. This site rates seats by location.

Seating in the higher levels has very restricted legroom, from what I remember. Worth checking on one of the theatre seating websites for advice about best seats/ones to avoid.

Front couple of rows in many theatres are cheaper because you have to look up. You may not be able to see the actors' feet. I haven't seen the mousetrap for about 30 years so can't comment on the exact theatre layout but I nearly always book the cheaper seats at the front and have never had a bad view.

I can’t remember the website name (I realise this is very unhelpful!) but there is one that has seat views. So if you know approx where you might like to sit you can check out the view before booking.
I will go and look for it now.

Found it!! (Assuming it’s still at St Martin’s Theatre)

Don't sit in the balcony, they're the most uncomfortable seats I've ever had the misfortune to sit in.

I was actually very disappointed with the play, I'm a huge Christie fan, but it was so mannered it almost seemed like farce in places.

RainBow725 · 23/11/2022 19:37

I got cheap tickets on the day - front stalls. The view was fine. Great play - well worth seeing.

Just to say it's touring in 2023.

I felt much the same. Glad I've seen it because of the history but nowhere near what I was expecting

Have a look at theatremonkey.com. It gives advice on seats, views from and where to buy tickets for almost every theatre in London.

Thanks all! Will go and check out your suggestions.

(I know it's touring, but we want to see the central London play)

The new year sale goes on sale on 6th December officiallondontheatre.com/sale/ unless you have a Mastercard when it’s tomorrow.

BIWI · 23/11/2022 20:21

Oooh! Thank you @Comefromaway - I do have a MC so will look out for that tomorrow.

Are you registered for Priceless Experiences ? I’d do that tonight if not so it’s all ready for tomorrow.

Danikm151 · 23/11/2022 20:56

Theatre monkey gives reviews of tickets and rates those that are worth the price

johsq20 · 23/11/2022 21:10

Great play - verrrrrryyyy uncomfortable seats.

BIWI · 24/11/2022 10:15

I've registered for Priceless Experiences, but the site is inaccessible/keeps crashing, so I'm guessing too many people are trying to access it!

Facebook says the site has crashed

BIWI · 24/11/2022 13:03

... but I got through in the end! Secured 3 front row dress circle tickets, for a day we wanted, a time we wanted and a price that we all agreed on. So thank you very much for the recommendation @Comefromaway Flowers
