Any Christmas delivery slots still available?

We are going to my dad's but now we are going to arrive before he arrives back from seeing my DB, so we have quite a specific time slot (we want to get the groceries in so we can treat him, but also to avoid him going "oh the DGCs will just accept own brand because it's cheaper" and finding out that he's bought the one cereal they won't eat. I also suspect he has unrealistic ideas of how much they will eat!).
We don't have any deliver passes. I can see Waitrose are sold out and I can't get any for Sainsbury's where he lives (I think their Click and Collect haven't been released yet though?) but I got an Asda Click and Collect for the day/time we need. I would prefer delivery though as then it doesn't leave one of us to settle the DCs before my DF arrives back while the other one disappears to the supermarket. I could have got Asda delivery for 10pm but from experience that usually means midnight.

(Just discovered Morrison's don't delver to him though they do click and collect).

I think click and collect is your best hope unless you have the ability to go round the actual store

Might be easier to load the car with an in person shop beforehand. If you are looking for a specific day close to Christmas say after 20th December it's unlikely.

I would take anything that will keep, is essential, will fit, then do a fresh food run in person once there.

Click and collect depending on how far to the shop is very quick.

Or 10pm would at least be a delivery.

It's unlikely people are going to cancel their bookings all you can do is keep checking.

drspouse · 23/11/2022 15:33

I think the ability to take stuff with us is highly dependent on how big the DCs' presents are!
I have however found two click and collect slots so I'll check out from one now and we can decide if we want to switch
Are Sainsbury's click and collect not open yet? They have a v big Sainsbury's and I don't think the Asda or Morrison's are as big.

Did you try the 4 hour Sainsbury’s slots as well? We still had availability on 1 and 4 hour slots up to 23rd last week, but the last available ones are 21st now.

C&C is only available up to 6th right now though.

drspouse · 23/11/2022 15:46

I didn't think of the 4 hour Sainsbury's slots but I checked just now and there aren't any.
I have booked 2 Morrison's and 1 Asda click and collect so we can cancel the ones we don't need and/or book Sainsbury's when we decide exactly when we are travelling. The M6 is involved unfortunately.

Urgh, I hate the M6!

drspouse · 23/11/2022 16:39

Me too!
My DPs get up about 6am and always say "so, it will take you 2 hours to get here won't it" and wonder why we won't say we'll be there for lunch. Add in DD's need to go to the loo every 5 minutes and it's a perfect storm.

I got a Tesco slot for the 21st about an hour ago.
