Anyone else get problems with amazon deliveries?

So I use amazon pretty regularly, I pay for prime so get next day delivery. And the delivery drivers regularly lose parcels, or leave them in random places like : on the doorstep, in the garden, in the hedge, someone else’s garden (all places I have found my parcels).

I have ordered lots of Christmas presents this week from amazon and have tried to be home when expecting deliveries. Most of what I have ordered has arrived except one item, I check the app and it’s marked as delivered (thankfully not an expensive item). So basically another lost parcel… This happens all the time, so I talk to someone from the live chat and normally they send a replacement, however this time I’m told I have to report it to the police 🤨 (so I guess I’m on some sort of blacklist now) … Like I don’t want to waste police time for an item that cost £12.99 and Im not even sure it’s really a police matter.🤔

Last week I found an item sitting against my front door that was addressed to someone about 5 doors down from us… I had to go and deliver this parcel to them🙄(neighbour complained about amazon misplacing their parcels too) … So now I’m planning on knocking on random neighbours doors tomorrow in search of the lost parcel.

Anyone else get their amazon parcels regularly lost or left in weird places? Or is it just my area?

(And it’s just amazon delivery drivers that seem to do this, any other delivery company and Royal Mail always seem pretty good here and not one lost parcel so far. )

sorry just really needed to rant 😭

DH orders quite a lot from Amazon, I don't think we've ever had a problem. We do have a decent sized porch though, so it's obvious where to leave parcels.

norwichmummy123 · 22/11/2022 23:59

No
Issues at all lately

Chloefairydust · 23/11/2022 00:01

I live on a busy road, lots of people walking by all day and garden is open and not at all private (no fence just a short hedge) so leaving parcels at the door isn’t the best thing here.

Nope. Still arriving on a twice-daily basis here 🫣😬

I've had a few drivers open my front door to leave the parcel inside, which felt intrusive.

elephantonacid · 23/11/2022 00:03

Never had a problem.

They left our parcel in the recycling bin once... fortunately or unfortunately empty... at least if it had been half full it would have been easier to retrieve!

Its Evri that do random stuff for us. We never managed to identify the random house they left a parcel at last year...

Ooh I will check the bins tomorrow

Yes I’ve had a delivery in a bin once too, I only found it when taking it out for collection. Could you set up your ‘safe place’ or collect them from an Amazon locker?

Miss03852 · 23/11/2022 00:26

I’ve never had any problems with them

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 23/11/2022 00:29

Never had an issue with them or Evri either and I get far too much stuff delivered.

MarmiteCoriander · 23/11/2022 00:34

Generally, no issues until yesterday. Got a call in the evening from the driver. I was out the front door whilst still on the phone- within seconds. He saw me come out, we made eye contact. Instead of handing the parcel to me- he threw it from where he was standing 2m away which landed into a large, muddy puddle in the garden (currently renovating)!

Fortunately, the contents was hard plastic, but if had been something absorbable it would have been ruined and soaked in.

Ihaveamagicwand · 23/11/2022 00:36

Had Amazon parcels delivered by Yodel yesterday. I have a designated safe place for parcels to be left if we are out but Yodel did not follow this. They left parcels out in the rain thankfully in plastic coverings although one corner was slightly torn. They sent a photo of where it had been left and again today, when Amazon delivered, a photo of it sitting in my designated safe place was sent.

Do you not get photos of the parcel once it’s been delivered OP?

This is us.

Things don't sit there for long before someone takes them.

The most annoying ones are when you are in, and they just put it on the doorstep and haven't knocked at all.

I mean, I do feel sorry for delivery drivers. A pp has said it feels intrusive when they open the door and put them in the porch.
Others have ridiculed them for hiding things out of site in the bin.
Myself and Op are saying don't, whatever you do leave them in view
So many people on MN don't answer the door when someone knocks
Most of us find it annoying to have a card saying you have to collect from somewhere else.

Whatever they do, will be wrong in someone's eyes.

TooHotToRamble · 23/11/2022 00:39

Almost all our delivery drivers leave our parcels on the doorstep or by the bin. Often they don't even knock.

Luckily though we don't have a problem with parcels getting stolen although they sometimes get very wet.

I don't mind as they have to deliver so many parcels a day they don't have time to knock and wait.

Yes I have had this before, once I was in the kitchen cooking dinner and just happened to see out the window the amazon van pull up in front of the house, the delivery guy sprint to the front door with the parcel and just leave it there without knocking and quickly ran back to his van 😮 … luckily I saw and quickly got to the door take in the parcel that time

Amazon delivery people were routinely ignoring my 'safe location' instruction, leaving parcels on my front door step in full view of passers-by. I discovered that by renewing the 'safe location' instruction once tracking info is received, this happened less often. Still not 100%, but better. I only leave feedback if my instruction is followed.

Sugarfish · 29/04/2023 13:54

I’ve had a parcel left in a recycling bin that was later recycled! I’ve also seen them launch parcels into my neighbours front garden from their car window before. The ones that deliver via DPD seem ok in our area but some of the self employed ones clearly don’t give a shit

ChristmasFluff · 29/04/2023 14:30

A warm zombie thread, but Amazon don't have delivery people.

They mostly use Royal Mail for Prime (hence the problems during the strikes) but if other couriers are used, it can delay things. Evri, for instance, can be shit (although our local driver is a total star).

If you are not Prime, then often Amazon is not involved in delivery and is more a 'shop front'.

Cakemonger · 29/04/2023 16:17

I don't order anything expensive from them as it tends to get left on the doorstep.
