Train strikes

Just seen train strikes have been announced and it falls over weekend I’m meant to visiting London with DC. Really thinking about cancelling but just checked and hardly anything I’ve booked is refundable. I’m staying with DS so I’m theory I could drive but she’s also said most of the transport near her will be effected too as she’s in South London (no tube where she is).

Grrrr.

Had to cancel trip to London in December. Sis lives alone and is having abdominal surgery. I was going to look after her.
The " sorry, not sorry" post earlier from striker isnt cutting it with me

I’m having less sympathy with strikers the more I read! I mean, train usage is significantly down insinuating a more stream lined system/staffing should be in place, train fares are extortionate. They don’t want redundancies but do want pay increases? I can’t see it. I think the public will work round the strikes, (working from home, doing more things locally , using other transport options) and I can’t see the demands being met quite frankly.

How do you streamline station staff and still maintain passenger assistance?

are these not private run companies and the actual drivers get a good wage, not even sure what they are striking for to be totally honest , just won't use trains going forward and don't anyway as where i am the service is atrocious , no regular trains, and too many people to get on the trains as never send enough carriages etc
So i don't even look at using a train , also expensive and cheaper to drive and park if two if you

I was going to use the train this weekend instead of drive, would have been more expensive and actually taken longer but seen as though none are serving the station I'd be going from on Saturday I guess driving it is. Train travel is hugely down since commuters arent bringing in the revenue they used to, not really endearing people to using trains are they. Strikes are most effective when people don't have an alternative, so many do when it comes to travelling meh.
