I keep bursting into tears at work

I went for a scan yesterday and they found something on my right ovary. I’ve had a cyst there before which was drained so whilst a bit concerned I didn’t brood on it. They said they’d need me to get CA125/CEA/CA19.9 blood tests.

later in the evening the referring Dr called me and it’s so much worse that I thought. It’s an irregular complex cyst, mix of fluid and solid matter with 4 internal papillary structures with no normal ovarian tissue detected I now find myself on the 2 week cancer pathway and I am so scared.

I can’t take any time off until Thursday which I will but I am struggling to keep it together. Any tips on how I can keep my mind occupied would be gratefully received.

I'm so sorry you've had such bad news. Have you got anyone at work who you're close to who you could tell? Can you step out for a walk around the block? If it were me I'd be trying to find a way to clock off early and go home but I appreciate that's not always possible for people.

Thank you! I’ve told 2 people from work but one only works mornings and the other is wfh today. I’ve also told my boss but with less details as I didn’t want to make him uncomfortable. I work in a mainly male environment. I will leave in a minute I think, then I just have to get through tomorrow.

Are you allowed to listen to music at work? Just thinking having some songs playing in your ears, even for a while will keep your brain distracted enough to get you through the day.

Hopefully everything will be fine but I can understand why you would be worried. Keeping my fingers crossed for for.
