Mobile phone - end of contract help please

I've always had old phones and pay as you go sims but was bought a new iPhone 2 years ago which had a 2 year Vodafone contract. I feel such a Luddite as I have no idea how mobile contracts work.

This has now expired (today). I had the app but it kept locking me out so twice I did an online chat, was told there was a problem and they’d sort it, but they didn’t. I’ve been too busy to sort it and don’t have the energy to do all that again to be honest.

I want to change to a different provider (Lebara on a cheaper sim only). Can I just request a PAC code from Vodafone and buy a new Lebara Sim or do I need to do anything else?

Thanks so much for any advice.

yes. Get your pac code from Vodaphone. LeBara currently have a deal with 15gb of data, unlimited UK texts and minutes for 94 pence for first 6 months then £7.50pm. Also includes Euro roaming

@Pedallleur Thanks so much. Do I need to notify Vadafone any other way that I’m ending the contract (although the 2 years is up) or is applying for a PAC code enough.

thanks so much for the plan details.

I’ve just been through the same thing. Try this for new sim deals…

You don’t need to contact Vodafone, although they will probably try and contact you to try and get you to stay with them.

I requested my pac code from vodaphone the other day. They rang me 10 mins later and offered me a cheap sim only deal that isn't listed on the website - 40gb data and unlimited texts/mins for £10 a month sim only on a 12 month contract

There are probs cheaper out there but just thought I'd mention because it saves you having to sort it out yourself

Thanks @Yarrawonga . Do you know, is requesting a PAC code enough to quit whatever roll-over contract they’ll put me on?

Requesting the PAC code doesn’t end the contract in itself but when you start a contract with a new provider, they will end the contract with Vodafone for you.

Effanthia · 22/11/2022 11:56

That’s great. Thanks so much.

@Angelofthenortheast sorry, missed your message. Did you request your PAC code via the app, online or text?

To get your PAC text PAC to 65075 and it will send it back to you. Once you port it to your new network tje Vodafone contract will auto cancel

Effanthia · 22/11/2022 12:13

@youwouldthink thanks so much.

Should I request the PAC code now or wait until I get my new sim?

Any idea how much I’ll be charged until I can change?

Once you request the PAC you have 30 days ti use it. Find your new provider and agree to a deal. They will take over your number after they send you a SIM. Once thats done the account with Vodafone will end. You normally pay monthly in advance so should be refunded anything paid after the date of cancel. Vodafone will keep you on the same plan until its cancelled or you could just stay Sim only with them and your bills will go down to whatever the Sim only plan is :)
