Is Elf a suitable film for 4 year olds please; I know it’s a PG but not one I’ve seen.

Every year sil organises a daytrip down to Carlisle that involves the cinema, food, Santa etc for her children and the other children in the family. Everyone loves it.
this year she’s making a big deal that they seeing a really young children’s film so my two 4 year olds can go too. She’s happy to take them both and as DP is keen for them to go I need to work out if the film is suitable or am I being over precious.
Thanks.

Can't think of anything in it that wouldn't be.

My 4 year old loves it. There's probably some adult jokes but nothing sexual etc

mynameiscalypso · 22/11/2022 08:33

I'd let my 3 year old watch it (if I thought he has the attention span for more than the first 30 seconds)

There are some little jokes that will go over his head but Buddy the Elf is probably the best character to engage a 4 year old!

side note…. How can you not have watched it!

Thank you everyone; I will say they can go. They’ll have a wonderful time I’m sure.
How have I not seen it - I have no idea! I’m not a big film watcher (adhd) but have seen most of the Christmas children’s ones as end of term treats when I taught in mainstream!

The whole ot is about people not believing in Santa being shown that Santa is real.

Only potentially dodgy bits are the shower scene (Buddy not realising going into the womens showers is inappropriate) and getting drunk in the mail room.

I don't think there's anything inappropriate in it but I

  • think a 4 year old would get bored and not sit all the way through it.

There is some very irresponsible eating of candy, far too much of it. but otherwise no, its fine. Its one of our annual xmas films and we have a 2 and 4 yearold.

Not sure it would keep 4 year old attention span but maybe it depends on the child
