Do small, cheap (ish) dehumidifiers work?

I don’t have much space and can’t afford an expensive one, I’ve seen a few small £50 on Amazon, are these completely worthless or would they do the job?

Thank you - I wonder is it still effective though? There's no way I could buy one per bedroom

AuroraBoreaIis · 23/11/2022 18:26

Following. I was looking at the ProBreeze 1500, but I'd like to know if it heats the room a bit too - reviews on Amazon say not, but I thought they all did?

SlipperySlope99 · 23/11/2022 18:38

I’d say, not, to it heating the room

Another vote for the meaco or however it's spelled. I have a smaller one in one bedroom which has a small damp problem - external wall runs with water in the morning, but no mould somehow. The £50 one is fine for that, it's a generic brand.

I have meaco 12l I think for the main bedroom where our washing is dried. Same watery external wall, plus mould if left alone. It's incredible! Bone dry (sometimes too dry air). It fills the full tank with fresh wasing in there, in less than a day. It is heavy, but if you've no mobility problems you could easily do a few hours per room per day and it would make a big difference.

Does the 12 l meaco also purify air?

allthecrooksandnannies · 23/11/2022 19:06

I have the EcoAir DC12 - it’s good!

One of them does but not mine.

I tried to post a photo but something has changed on MN making it impossible via my iPhone

That said the air seems a lot clearer in the house somehow

This is the one I have

Thank you.
We live by a busy road as well so it would be a huge bonus to also get air purifier with it

chickidychick · 23/11/2022 19:43

I've got a small one I used to use in a houseshare. The room I use it in now is bigger than it suggests is best on the box it came in but it still removes some moisture from the air so I'm going with something is better than nothing.

This is one of theirs with an air purifier although we have already lost the musty smell in the back room. So I guess it was damper than I'd realised
