Just that. I'm sick of bloody trolls, and I'm sick of giving advice in good faith and then finding that threads are zapped because of trollery. If you can't find a way to control it, could you at least keep troll threads up, but highlight that this is what they are? So many people post really good advice on them (some very thoughtfully and at great length) that it's a shame for it to be deleted along with the fucking troll

Yes. Perhaps keep them up, but freeze them. Blank out the trollery. Then all the helpful and genuine replies won't have been wasted.

Good idea re; keeping the thread up but with a message. At least others can then benefit from the advice. There are also some people that could offer helpful advice but if something feels a bit 'off' they might not post, thinking it would be a waste of time if the thread goes. I hope MN will consider and maybe trial the suggestion.
