How much earlier would you put a sick toddler to bed?

Mine is 2.5 and has had a fever / bug / cough since last week. Tonight he's been falling asleep in the sofa and looked so poorly bless him. I've put him to bed without a bath (unheard of)! He went down just after 6pm and normal bedtime is usually 7.30 asleep by 8.

Does this sound ok / the right course of action even though it's really early?

If he’s falling to sleep. Let him sleep
if he’s poorly he way wake up a few times in the night

Agree with pp, let him sleep.

When mine are like that (3 &8) I just let them sleep as much as they can. Routine goes completely out the window. Fluid and calpol at the ready when they wake

Hope he feels better soon

Whenever they want really. DD (3.5) had a similar sounding thing last weekend and took herself off to bed at 4pm! She woke at 8 and had some toast and went back off to sleep.

Sleep is very important for recovery. Let them have as much sleep as possible.

When mine are poorly, I just follow their lead. Rest is a key part of them getting better, so I just let them sleep when they need to 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve just come to bed with a poorly 3 yo as I type. An hour earlier than usual but she’s wiped out, not eaten all day but has plenty of fluids, refusing medicine steadfastly though. Sleep is the best thing for her

Just let him sleep whenever hes tired. DS is the best when hes sick. He sleeps for 1-2 days straight. If he does wake up then just to have a sip of tea or some soup, then he goes to bed again. When he wakes up hes usually almost fully recovered.
DD is very different. Being sick prevents her from sleeping so shes just laying around whinging and complaining all day! And i spend the day praying for her to finally fall asleep!
I dont think they can get too much sleep when they are feeling bad.

Dd 18 mo fell asleep watching cbeebies at 5.30pm last week when very poorly. Back to her normal bedtime 2 days later at 8pm. Follow their lead when sick.
