Dizzy, lightheaded, feeling like I'm falling

Does anyone ever get a sensation like their falling? A bit like when you're falling asleep and you jolt awake, but while you are wide awake? The feeling lasts for a fleeting second, then I feel ok again. But it will happen multiple times a day, usually when I'm very tired or unwell.
I'm not sure if this is just what people would describe as lightheaded? Or dizzy? In the moment I feel like I might faint, but it passes so quickly.
It's almost what imagine palpitations might feel like, but I'm not aware of my heart racing or anything.

Anyone else get anything similar?

Dehydration? Mine is sinus issues I think I'm feeling so off balance

It’s usually an inner ear problem causing vertigo, I get it recurrently linked to sinus problems. I have also had labyrinthitis which is similar. For me it feels more like being on a boat all the time, although if I roll over in bed I feel like I’m falling.
I find otrivine and anti histamines can help (if sinusy) or you could try the Epley manoeuvre which moves any little crystals that form in your ears.

I'm usually quite good at drinking plenty of water, so I'm not sure it's dehydration - but that's good to know as I didn't realise that could make you feel lightheaded.

I didn't even think about my ears! I don't know that they're overly waxy but I do have a cold at the moment. Do you think it's caused by congested sinuses or an infection?

Yes I get it all the time. Turns out I have very low iron. Now taking iron tablets and looking foward to feeling a bit better!

Yes! I often do. I noticed it this morning. Very weird sensation! I think it's because my period is due- that's when it usually happens. I also slept badly last night so that might be a factor. Eating and drinking is fine so I don't think it's that.

If you get it on standing up, then it may be low brain oxygen caused by low blood pressure. I get it.

OP, you said you've got a cold? Because I've had a cold virus (still coughing quite a lot now, about 5 or 6 weeks after the cold started) and I kept getting this dizzy feeling, as though I was about to pitch forward, around that time. I think it could well be connected to the cold virus, because it's not happening anymore, I've just got the lingering cough now!
