Missing bonus

I'm eligible for a bonus and should have received it today. I first realised something was off when my colleagues all got a bonus notification but I didn't so I asked my manaher who said my team were all in the same situation. Fine. They all got their letter but I didn't. Both myself and manager have reached out to HR. I haven't gotten a response and not sure if they have.

I have given notice to leave but I did it after the cutoff date for receipt of bonus and it should have been paid today. No surprise that it hasn't really but I am disappointed that I will likely have to wait until December for it. Company making a big deal about helping employees out during hard times but its unlikely I'll see this for a month which angers me. Its not a huge bonus but does mean I will probably have to take out of my savings this month and not get any interest.

Are you certain that this is correct? Most companies where I worked stipulate you can't resign before the payment.

If you can wait for the money the important thing is to ensure you get it in writing and it will be paid in December. And save this in your personal email in case you need to follow up after you leave.

@rosesroses2 yes I'm 100% certain that this is the case. If you give notice before x date, even if your leave date is after it then you are not eligible. I resigned after x date and have it on good authority that I am entitled to the bonus.

Have you got a copy of the company policy stating this?

I do, yes. I checked it before resigning and it is included in FAQs as well.

Arghhhhh now having to wait until December payroll. Expected but fucking annoying when you have done everything that was expected of you.

Of course you have to wait for it! They ain't going to just give it to you right now!

goosebuster · 29/11/2022 13:33

@deathraystare despite it being due in November pay and the fuck up being on their part not mine? I would expect most decent employers to rectify this including my old one.

I was being sarcastic on your behalf. Is December your last payment? If so that's probably why.

goosebuster · 29/11/2022 14:09

@Deathraystare, sorry I totally misread the tone..!
I'm technically employed until early January so assume I will also get a payment then, unless they take the few days in Jan and just pay that in December.

I wonder if you will get it with your last payment? I understand you ae leaving, hopefully to somewhere better???

goosebuster · 29/11/2022 19:15

@Deathraystare not sure...time will tell I guess!!
Fingers crossed, the grass certainly looks greener right now!
