Calling creative minds! How to surprise someone with tickets to bucket list attraction?

My mum is turning 50 this year, and she’s always wanted to go see someone particular (I won’t say what as it could be outing) - and we’ve brought her the tickets to do it.

She’s having a big party on her birthday, and we’ll be giving her the gift (tickets) then.. but j want to do something a bit ‘more’ than just giving her a card with the tickets in, or a ticket voucher type thing. This is something she’s dreamed of and we want to make it really special and surprise.. but I can’t think for the life of me how!

that’s where you come in! Had anyone any suggestions? 🤣

thanks in advance!

Sorry someone was meant to be something!

Can you find a mini version of it and wrap it up?
Devise some clues? Do a mini treasure hunt?
Get some of the guests involved - each hold a letter of it to spell it out, jumble them up and see if she can rearrange the people in the correct order??

A pop up card
Dress up as the person

Make up a gift basket with items relating to this event with the gift card hidden under tissue paper at the bottom.

Maybe written in chocolate or on a cookie!
When we gave DS a trip to Legoland, we did a pass-the-parcel type package full of little Lego themed gifts and each layer had a word of message ‘we’re going to Legoland tomorrow’.

what About a personalised balloon? Either in a huge box and when she opens it it’ll float up and she can read what it says? Or, one of them surprise balloons that is a balloon inside of a balloon, she pops the outside and there’s another balloon underneath that has the surprise on it?

Use Canva and make a video?

girlmom21 · 20/11/2022 17:11

Is it someone you could order a Cameo video from?

Blow up an image of the tickets, stick it on some card and then cut it out make a jigsaw. Package it in a lovely box (but with no picture on the front) and wait for her to put it together.

I think places like snappysnaps (do they still exist? I don't live in the UK anymore) will make jigsaws out of photos - this could be an option if you didn't want to do a DIY version.

Wear masks of the band as she opens the card
Have a fancy dress party theme is members of the band

Gemmanorthdevon · 20/11/2022 17:23

Can you do one of those " pull it out of the cake" things?

longtompot · 20/11/2022 18:49

Is it something that might have a music book with it, or from a book? I did that with Tim Minchin tickets for my ds one year, put them inside one of his books.

These cards are excellent

Etsy scratch off cards

zippitydoda · 20/11/2022 21:29

Scratch cards on Etsy. I know a fab seller if allowed to share.

I love the idea of getting someone to dress up as the person, enter the room to a fanfare and clapping and give her the tickets!

LightUpTheWoods · 20/11/2022 22:11

As a 50 something year old....I don't think there's any need for cookies, balloons or treasure hunts, I'd find them a bit silly.

They will only string out the surprise for a few seconds, and nothing will be bigger than the tickets/experience itself. I

Sunnysidegold · 20/11/2022 22:14

If it's to see a singer or someone get a cardboard cut out of the person and stick the tickets to the hand?

Pr1nc3ssP3rdy · 20/11/2022 22:17

I remember getting tickets for a gig and I unwrapped a piece of paper with a code on it which turned out to be coordinates and a date. When I searched them up it came up with the gig as that was what was on that date in that place. It was fun to figure out.

Craftybodger · 20/11/2022 22:20

Can you make an acrostic of memories from her lifetime that spell out the surprise? The time taken to solve it builds the excitement before the reveal.

MumofSpud · 21/11/2022 16:24

When we got our DD a trip to NY and tickets to 2 shows, I got her a notebook that had NYC Trip printed on it.
Then gave her the DVDs of the musicals then the actual tickets
