Vision express prescription

I am probably way overthinking this so wondered if anyone here knew.
Will Vision Express just give me my glasses prescription? I have a local independent spectacle maker with super styles and excellent prices who I'd prefer to use
I've been thinking of all sorts of excuses/reasons for wanting it rather than ordering from them on the day

They will if you pay for the eye test.

They're required to give you your prescription whether you pay for the eye test or not. They might not actively offer it to you, because they make a loss on NHS eye tests and would prefer you buy the glasses there, but that's their problem.

The only thing I will say is that if the glasses come back feeling not quite right, you're in a stronger position to get revisions made without paying extra if the people you buy the glasses from are also the ones who did the sight test.

My optician always gives me a copy of my prescription even if I buy glasses from them. Just ask for it

Yes of course, you are under no obligation to buy glasses from them. You can just ask for the prescription, they will give it to you on a little card. My partner just did this recently, as he wanted to order a pair of glasses online that he liked from another company.

Thank you all
Yes I was overthinking it
I've got varifocals (£800😳😳) and only want single vision sunglasses
Yes that a good point re revisions
I'm not a fan of theirs generally after a couple of poor experiences

Yeah I think with something like your fancy varifocals, where a lot of things can go wrong, it can be worth sticking with the same people who do the eye test in case adjustments need making. But if your single vision prescription is fairly simple, it shouldn't be a problem getting them made elsewhere.
