Anyone with a Merlin pass?

Im considering purchasing a merlin pass in the Black Friday sale. Does anyone know if you can pick the start date? Or is it just from date of purchase? We wouldn’t be able to use it until January so I don’t want to lose 2 months. I can’t seem to find an answer online. Thanks

I think it’s from the date you pick it up at the office at whichever resort you’ve arranged to collect it from.

You used to get a voucher and collect your pass from your nearest park or attraction.

Now your pass is mailed out as soon as you order. I don't think you can pick a start date.
