Yet another lump

Found a lump, two actually, in my breast. One feels small and nobbly, the other is bigger.

I'm 40, and I've had at least two lumps checked out before now. Possibly three.

Do I just keep going to my doctor every time?? I feel like an absolute time waster, but of course I'm also cautious that it only takes that one time to be something more sinister.

Anyone else prone to cysts/fibroadenoma and what do you do about it?

You need to get it checked each time, absolutely. You are not wasting anyone's time - your health is a priority.

I hope the lumps are nothing to serious. I went recently and they were insistent that they were happy to check whatever I find.

HugHeart · 19/11/2022 16:31

Too serious I mean - apologies for typo

lumpingit · 19/11/2022 16:46

Thanks @HugHeart I suppose I'll see if they've gone down at all by next week, and call the doctors if not. But it does seem excessive to go every time.

Yes definitely get any new lump checked out, it’s better to waste someone’s time than have a potential illness go undiagnosed, the earlier these things are caught the better the outcome… Please don’t be afraid of wasting your GP’s time, I’m sure they would rather you go to get it checked out…

I decided after lump experience to only go after it's been there a few months.
I'm a grown up & get to make mistakes or strokes of genius, am satisfied with this decision.
Hope your lump problem is soon resolved, OP.

Forgive my ignorance/stupidity, but my lump definitely seems to have decreased.

I have an appointment at the breast clinic on Thursday.

Is it okay to cancel this now?

Go anyway - get it checked out. They are always happy to check things. It's not gone - keep your appointment. 💐

I’ve had multiple fibroadenoma OP - I’m 41. 8 I think - Ive lost count! It’s very stressful finding a lump. It almost makes me scared to check as I had 3 in 18 months at one stage and felt like I found a lump every time I checked.

I always go to the doctor as soon as I can get an appointment and get referred to the breast clinic. Nobody has ever made me feel
like a time waster - they actually praise me for proactively checking. The breast doctor I see said some women are just prone to them.

I would still go to the breast clinic and be checked out.

Hi
Can you tell me if your all 8 fibroadenomas had been biopsed ? I had 4 seen on ultrasound scan and been told its firboadenoma? Still waiting to hear more from clinic? Was urs all 8 fibro confimed wid biopsy?

Frasa · 19/12/2023 06:31

Yes, all were biopsied. I’ve actually had another one that was just biopsied last month.

They told me at the time they were pretty sure they were fibroadenoma from Ultrasound. I’m not in the UK though so procedure may be different here but they always biopsy to confirm.

I've been to the beast clinic 3 times now 2 times it was a cysts and the 3rd lumpy breast. I have found the odd lump inbetween and usually wait about a month just to see if it goes down or goes as I feel confident they're usually cysts but if it's still there after a mo th I get it checked. The main thing I seem to be told each time is if it's hard and unmovable that's when worry more but the clinical ways says get any lump checked. I see to go once a year. I spoke to the nurse and said I feel like it's and annuvisit and she said that some women seem to be there monthly! So I guess what I'm saying is the clinics don't mind how often you go, they're not judging, so get checked out.

Seaweed supplements for iodine and a Brazil nut or two per day for selenium may help.
