Facebook account recovery

Overnight my yahoo email and Facebook accounts were hacked and Facebook email address changed.
I've secured the email but can't recover the Facebook, I can't reset password as the email account linked isn't mine and it's not recognising my phone number as the linked number.
Any advice on how to sort this?
I've followed instructions on email which is supposed to secure my account but it isn't sending the text verification code

If she hasn't got it back after 4 months she's probably given up.

I did manage to recover my account via FB support. It was a bit of a slog but I got there and then changed passwords for everything!

I know it’s been a while since you wrote this but the same has happened to my husband. He’s been contacting FB support but not getting anywhere. Can I ask what exactly you did?

Please can I ask how you recovered your account mine was hacked yesterday too? there are a few photos I real really want from the account.

It's a pain isn't it! I followed the FB support link which I received when I notified FB to report my compromised account. Then had to upload some photo ID which I was a bit unsure about and then there was quite a wait (few days I think) until I got an email to say my ID had been verified and account was restored. Good luck

Ah I did this and they gave me a generated password to log in and it didn't work. It was like it hadn't been reset properly as it still has the hackers email registered on it. I think I'll request it again and see how I get on. It's reassuring to know I'm on the right path. Thanks for your help.

My husband got his back today! He kept repeating the same steps and eventually it was restored. Thanks for your help.

He didn’t open Facebook on the app but opened it in a new browser window. He was sent a new user password after uploading ID but it didn’t work at first but did after about 2-3 days. Once that worked he was able to get in and enter his phone number. Hope that helps!

Oh ok never thought of that, it maybe why mine isn't working. Did he keep requesting new passwords or keep trying the same one?
Can i ask did he use his email or phone number to log in because its not recognising them either, but it might be the same issue as your husbands and its just not reset properly yet. Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it.

He kept trying to use his email and phone number but they weren’t recognised. Then suddenly it was! And yes, he kept notifying FB but as you know they don’t really reply.
