Colonoscopy

I have a colonoscopy next week. I have been asked to cut all fibre from my diet for a week - which I am doing.

I have read the information the hospital has sent me which says the procedure could be painful and I can be sedated - I assume this goes not mean GA.

Has anyone had this? Any tips? How much pain should I expect? Should I plan to stay at home all of the following day?

Any information gratefully received.

Hi walkers thanks for checking in. That wa

Woops. Posted too soon.

I had it last Monday. It was a difficult process for one reason and another and I'm not keen on repeating it. But, all looked well so that is good. Just waiting on the biopsies but I'm not too worried about that. No sign of diverticulitis, a healthy normal bowel apparently.

How are you doing? I hope the results were good for you.

It was kind of you to check in.

I couldn't cope with it and they had to stop . Even with gas n air it was unbearable. They did say I had a twisty bowel though so that may explain why the pain was intolerable

I had the same problem - and so did my mother. Obviously very twisty colons. I had flashbacks afterwards. If I need a future colonoscopy, I'll insist on a GA as the sedation and painkillers didn't work.

Mine was incredibly painful too! I was dreading going back and felt tempted to cancel 🙈
