(No cheating) which country do you think has the most powerful passport?

As in they can enter nations visa free, or with visa-on-arrival.

I just saw an article about it. That country wouldn’t have been my first guess.

I thought it was essentially three, Singapore, South Korea and Japan

Stickmansmum · 19/11/2022 07:08

Ireland is a good one but from your post that must not be top of the list

Florst · 19/11/2022 07:10

Japan?

InWalksBarberalla · 19/11/2022 07:11

My guess would be Singapore

custardbear · 19/11/2022 07:11

Finland?

Wishawisha · 19/11/2022 07:11

I would be quite happy with a Swiss passport I think.

00100001 · 19/11/2022 07:11

Japan.

Ghostsapply · 19/11/2022 07:12

Japan

FinanceLPlates · 19/11/2022 07:12

Luxembourg?

Bex268 · 19/11/2022 07:12

USA

Ladybug14 · 19/11/2022 07:13

Its Japan. Tom Swarbrick was talking about it on LBC the other day

kopiy · 19/11/2022 07:13

Japan

Quveas · 19/11/2022 07:16

Japan definitely - my friends son holds a Japanese passport

ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 19/11/2022 07:17

From your title I was going to guess Japan.
Think the Singapore, S Korea, Swiss and Irish ones are excellent guesses.

What is the answer?

waitingindepartures · 19/11/2022 07:18

Bex268 · 19/11/2022 07:12

USA

That’s number 6. It was my first guess too. I won’t post the answer but here’s a link to it.

I ended up googling it 🙈

ArcticSkewer · 19/11/2022 07:22

Always used to be Japan.

eurochick · 19/11/2022 07:23

Japan.

The UK's passport power is falling.

Vigneau · 19/11/2022 07:46

I would say top 5 are:

Singapore (got to be hasn’t it?)
Japan
Luxembourg / Ireland (tie)
Germany

Really surprised USA is as high as 6 to be honest.

toobusytothink · 19/11/2022 08:02

Technically speaking USA isn’t 6th, it’s -6th as 15 more powerful…! Pet hate of mine. Like when they award joint 1st then 2nd place 😄

toobusytothink · 19/11/2022 08:02

16th

And this right here is why I hate Mumsnet and why there are other chat forums that mock it.

somebody’s tired 😆

gogohmm · 19/11/2022 08:26

Not a lot in that list, reality is that western passports open doors. Try having a non western passport (but permanent residency in the U.K.) my friends struggle to go to many places.

And this, right here, is why I love mumsnet. Because there are intelligent people who can show different ways of counting things/calculating things/different opinions, and post in the hope their points of view can be considered and discussed, hopefully without mocking.
