Song from film help

Can the wisdom of MN help please ? Chatting with a friend about a film she saw which featured a country style song.
The film featured Nicholas Holt alongside a blonde woman. Through the course of the film, he was composing a song, and it was then produced in a recording studio.
We have had wine so not at our clearest but the blonde woman was previously in Greys Anatomy.
Sorry, not much to go in but any suggestions welcome.

Does IMDB help? International Movie Data Base for all actors, tv shows, movies etc

This is the listing for Nicholas Holt, see if the title jumps out then find the film and then google for the song.

Is he in that?!

Is it 100% Nicholas Hoult you are thinking of? None of his films
Sound familiar compared to what you describe...

Completely differ actors but could it be Music and Lyrics? Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore

Apparently not Hugh Grant.
Friend has just said no, it isn't Nicholas Holt. It's the guy that was in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. She got mixed up as they are both young men!
But she's really trying to get to what the song is in the film.
I have no idea as I really don't watch films.

Mad max is better I can guarantee

In a strange plot twist Ben Barnes released an album last year so now he's an actual singer songwriter, which makes this thread meta.

Thankyou all.
I'll check with my friend - this all arose from a conversation around 6pm last night, with her looking things up and (it seems) muddling people up.

Thanks again everyone. My friend has now confirmed that it was indeed Love me like you do/Jackie and Ryan. She still can't seem to find the relevant song which she thinks is called 'Southbound'.
I told her that she'll have to try to rip it from youtube if she's that desperate to listen to it and she just looked at me as though I had two heads (She's not very tech savvy).

She is however, extremely grateful for the speedy responses to her drunken ramblings! :)
