Lost my mojo at new job

Started a new job
Which in theory I am overqualified for
It's three days a week and was advertised as flexible but I feel like it's not really.
I have been very anxious on the morning of the days I have to get to work.

The team and MD are generally quite young. It is a small team and I think there is lots of room for improvement in the way that they operate generally.

Anyway, I have been told that my work is not up to standard.
I don't know how to fix it.
I am still in my probationary period and have a week's notice.

I think I may be let go.
Not sure whether to jump before I am pushed as not sure my confidence can take it if they say it's not working out.

When they told you your work is not up to standard did they tell you why or in way way? They should be able to give you some pointers to what to improve on? Stay strong and see how it goes.

Thanks for reply.
My turn around isn't fast enough and what I am doing needs too much review from fellow team members (it's a copy writing role)
If I tell you this is a regional job and I have previously written for national titles...
I have never been picked up so much on small errors of style.

OP I work in the same field...I've had similar experiences.Unfortunately, content is so subjective.I've worked in places where I've been picked apart over a comma and others where I have full control over major content campaigns with hardly any edits made. Did they give you TOV/brand guidelines? If not,a lot of the blame lies on them and you should tell them so.

Gosh @TooGood2BeFalse that is interesting and I am so sorry that this happened to you.

No not much in terms of TOV guidelines and also I said "so how do we plan this out?" And didn't really get much of a reply.

Sunday afternoon dread is kicking in.
Any more words of wisdom?

Hi OP. Just found your thread and am hoping you've had a better week.
Weirdly, I'm going through the same thing at my new job. Govt role, thought I'd be given CMS induction and handed the style guide and writing guide in the first week. Got none of that, had to scrounge around.
I've now been told much what you've been told -- that my writing is not to style and that too many go-arounds are needed in the approval process.
Isolated, fed up and will tell my manager tomorrow that I'd like to leave at the end of probation. However, I will give them a list of pointers to help the next incumbent in the role.
I reckon that if they don't give us a style guide and clear briefing, it's up to us to do our best with what little we have in this new environment. They really should not complain.

Hello Groovergirl
I gave my notice on Wednesday and have been sleeping a lot better. It will be awkward for my MD as it's a small team but I am good at what I do, they just don't need my skills and what they do need I can't seem to do in the way they want, so it's not a good fit,
