Anyone on Mastodon

So as Elon Musk seems to be destroying Twitter I've signed up to Mastodon. But I just don't get it. Firstly, I can't seem to find any content (e.g. on Twitter I like to follow various newspapers, BBC, stuff about education etc). Also, I can't tell how people have conversations on there like they do on Twitter - people just seem to make single statements and there's no interaction. Can you even just 'like' posts?

Anyone else struggling with it?

I can't even work out how to sign up!

Yeah the whole choosing your server thing is a bit weird. I went with the UK one.

I've just found and followed Stephen Fry so I'm feeling a little bit better about things but still can't work out how to interact with people.

Is Twitter really going to disappear up its own fundament though? It's going to be interesting to watch...

I've managed to sign up but can't see how to add people. Every time I search I get timed out. I'm guessing it's just being overloaded at the moment.

Twitter is fine

I actually hope Twitter doesn't go under but I read an article in the Guardian today that made me wonder.

I think that because the Twitter platform is so user friendly, anything else is going to struggle to match it. Mastodon (crap name that brings to mind a chewing dinosaur) is just not intuitive enough IMO.

I can't be arsed to find a replacement. I remember life before Twitter. It was fine. No need for a new one.

Hmmmm - lost about 75% of employees? San Francisco offices running light banner abusing their boss? Not fine, not really.

I'm signed up to (although I really don't want Twitter to fold as I love it) and really struggling to know where to start. I read something about having to choose a server which I just don't get. Would love some basic help.
