How to deal with this

I started a new job this week as a cleaner at a holiday place, top end.

We work in teams of two, three when training.

The person who was assigned to train me used the same cloth to clean the toilet, then the bathroom sink. They also did a half arsed job with the shower. The extra bits they showed me, ie folding toilet paper were v badly done.

I won't go into the shouting and swearing at other collegues (in banter). Felt like I'd entered a madhouse. The other person I worked with was nice, but wasn't training me.

So...today is my induction (I need the job as a stepping point to other jobs) then I'm back out being trained again. How do I ask for someone else to train with without saying specifically why?

Been awake all night and up in less than 2 hours 😭

How long does your training last for?

tbh, I would say nothing and put up with it. You don't want to make enemies this early on, I know its not ideal, but that is what I would do

Thank you for replying :)

I don't know how long training is for.

Yes, my thoughts too, I don't want to make enemies. I'm also wanting to do the job to a reasonable standard. Guess I'll just have to be super observant of others.

I think @2greenroses is right. You need this job. Stick the training out and once you're on your own, do it how you think it should be done, separate cloths or whatever.

Bleughand · 18/11/2022 06:29

Thank you

I will be using seperate cloths and keep my head down.

If you need the job just keep your head down while training.
Re cloths maybe ask her if it's standard practice to cross contaminate ,ask her about the company COSHH regulations.

I get the feeling the collegues I worked with don't know them. It's just get the anti bac spray, spray on everything, use special cloth. I'll have to see what the induction includes today.

And pray I get a better colleague to train me.

Agree with others…don’t create as soon as you’re in the door.

Bleughand · 18/11/2022 06:45

I won't, I don't want to be ostracised.

Even if you don't get a better colleague once your " trained " you can do things correctly.
