Hot date - calling all Londoners for location suggestions!!!

BeginningToLook · 17/11/2022 20:31

If you had a hot date for tomorrow night and you hadn’t yet booked a place, where would you go?

Somewhere with soft comfy seats, maybe banquettes / booths, serving food and drink, that would take a booking for two at such short notice?

Somewhere with nice vibes and maybe cosy dimly let corners.

Serving cocktails would be a bonus.

Please help!

BeginningToLook · 17/11/2022 21:09

Hi @DasAlteLeid, Any central or very easily accessed by tube from zone one.

Do you really mean anywhere in zone one?

there’s a few good places at coal drop yard near kings cross

SuperPug · 17/11/2022 21:20

Skylon Bar on Southbank. Amazing cocktails and food was quite good. Have been able to walk in before and not book ahead.
Other good places nearby but not sure if you’d need to book, such as the Shipping Containers. Huge amount of choice there and near London Bridge

The library lounge at the standard in Kings x

None that had a space free at a reasonable time for Friday night. That would have been my first choice,

This is exactly the kind of hidden place I was looking for… thank you!
Would it really have last min booking for a Friday?

Keep them coming!

Brilliant idea, and the location is just perfect, but I think both it and the sea containers would be a little pricey for a first date?

Reticent to tell people about it as it’s my perfect date pub but The George on great Portland st. It’s low key but a really lovely upmarket pub, gets busy immediately after work with people popping in for a drink but quiets out after that.

Bouledeneige · 17/11/2022 23:24

Zetter townhouse. Like an eclectic drawing room with cocktails.

Bouledeneige · 17/11/2022 23:25

Sorry that was Zetter townhouse Clerkenwell

minipie · 17/11/2022 23:26

Any of the Salt Yard stable of restaurants would be good. Dehesa on Kingly St has nice seating.

The Fork website is good for looking for places with availability on a particular day/time. However it doesn’t cover all restaurants (in fact doesn’t cover most) so don’t despair if there’s nothing on there.

Coal Office near Kings Cross is lush
And so is Tattu near Soho

The speakeasy along with the attached Brewdog, slides and ping pong and all sounds absolutely perfect!!! Love the seats in the speakeasy, and there are enough of the comfy ones. You’re a genius. It must be bloody fun to go on a date with you.

BFI bar and kitchen on Southbank. It's at the back of the building not the riverside bar.

Wow, gorgeous!

And the BFI is an inspired idea!

Hahaha, thanks! If you go report what the bar is like as I’ve not managed to go, have only done the main brewdog bit (which is amazing!)

I plan to have a look round next week and report back then.

For now have found a watering hole in close proximity to a great dinner place at reasonable times of the evening, and in the middle range for both of us, a minor miracle to get anything good at this last minute.

For anyone wondering, the date was a success!

Thank you everyone for your suggestions, we’ll be checking them out, one by one hopefully.

In the end, we went to:

www.brewdog.com/uk/camden-road-arms

Great big chesterfield sofas, and we got to nab one of them! Fabulous cocktails and a happy hour, great food there, too.
I wanted a more relaxed atmosphere where we could blend into the crowd and sit closely together if we wanted.

I’m actually surprised how well it all went.
