I'm getting my wisdom tooth removed next week and I am honestly petrified. Please be honest and tell me what to expect? 😬 I'm worrying myself silly!

Are you being knocked out or just numbed? I had my 2 top ones out a few years ago and the procedure was really smooth. I was awake just numb and just felt tugging. But my face blew up almost instantly and I looked like a chipmunk for days. Pain was manageable with tablets I had to eat jacket potato's soups and stuff for a while. The only issue was I ended up getting dry socket in one of the teeth and that was really painful so had to go back and get it stuffed with clove oil. Then i was fine healed great. Good luck you'll be fine!

This was me a month ago! I was petrified and honestly the whole thing was a massive let down (in the best way!!). I cried when I got out from the adrenaline suddenly leaving my body - it was over so quick. I felt nothing. I had no swelling at all. The pain was manageable with OTC painkillers for a couple of days and I was out for dinner at a friends the next night (soft food and carefully). Honestly it’s not all doom and gloom.

I had it done a few years ago. Local anaesthetic. I felt tugging but no pain during the extraction and was on paracetamol for a few days after. I wouldn’t do it for fun, but it was fine.

It will be fine.

Thanks for all the encouraging words

Yes I will be awake for the procedure..I made the mistake of watching a video on YouTube of how it's done and that has definitely not helped!

You'll be fine.
I had three wisdom teeth removed on separate occasions, under local anaesthetic. The first one was planned and I worked myself up into a state beforehand. In fact it was fine, the anticipation was worse than the event.

The second one, I went to my dentist for a check up and he said 'that wisdom tooth needs removing, I'll do it now" - I had no time to think about it, and a few minutes later it was all over. I much preferred not being able to worry about it in advance!

I can't actually remember the third one - so it must have been easy and unmemorable!

You won't feel it, honestly. If you're scared, best wear earbuds and turn your music up loud so you don't hear the cracking noise. It'll be done before you know it. Sore for a couple of days then well on its way to healing.
